Uschuk Doubles

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 0 ante

Christopher Paasch opened to 7,000 from middle position and Dennis Jeffrey called from the cutoff. It folded to James Uschuk who three-bet all in from the big blind for 30,000 total. Paasch folded and Jeffrey went into the tank for a quite some time before finally deciding to call.

Jeffrey: {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}
Uschuk: {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}

The board ran out {A-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and Uschuk's pair of aces were able to secure him a double to about 69,000.

Kerignard Done

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 0 ante
Yorane Kerignard
Yorane Kerignard

Yorane Kerignard opened the cutoff and got a call from Christopher Paasch in the big blind. Paasch check-potted on {10-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} and soon all the chips were in the middle for 64,000 each. Kerignard showed {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} for an open-ended while Paasch had middle-pair with {10-Spades}{9-Spades}. The Frenchman ran out of luck with the {3-Diamonds} on the turn and {J-Clubs} on the river.

Kerignard had just about 6,000 left and he lost that the next hand with {K-Spades}{10-Clubs} against {Q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}.

Reilly Scores a Double

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 0 ante

Timothy Reilly opened with a middle position raise to an unknown amount and it folded around to Eric Crain who three-bet pot from the big blind. Reilly called all in for 37,000 total and the hands were tabled.

Reilly: {J-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Crain: {A-Spades}{8-Spades}

The board came down {J-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and Reilly was able to double with his set of jacks. He's now sitting on about 75,000. Crain has fallen to around 126,000.

Guagenti Walks his Ace-King into Fortin's Kings

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 0 ante
Nick Guagenti
Nick Guagenti

Jean-Nicolas Fortin opened the cutoff to 6,000 and Ruslan Dykshteyn three-bet from the button to 15,000. Nick Guagenti in the small blind made it pot which got the most of his chips in the middle. Fortin repotted and Dykshteyn quickly folded. Guagenti committed his last chips as well and we had a pretty big showdown:

Jean-Nicolas Fortin{K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}
Nick Guagenti{A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}

Guagenti was in dire straits for an ace but the deck wouldn't supply him with one: {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{9-Spades} | {2-Clubs} | {5-Spades}. Guagenti will have to do with the $5,185 he gets for busting in 26th place.

Jason Mercier Busts in 27th Place ($5,185)

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 0 ante
Jason Mercier
Jason Mercier

Jason Mercier busted just before the break. We missed the hand unfortunately and thus asked Eric Crain what happened to him. "He busted" Crain laughed. That we knew of course, but fortunately Robert Corcione is more helpful.

Corcione tells us that Mercier opened with pocket sevens, got threebet by somebody with kings and they got it in. Mercier wasn't able to spike a seven and that was the end of it. Mercier also busted the $5,000 Stud-8 tournament so he went from playing two tournaments at the same time to none at all. Or did he register for the 5 p.m. tournament already?
