Berkey Rails Makhija

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Amit Makhija
Amit Makhija

We didn't catch the action, but thanks to the magic of twitter we were able to find out how Amit Makhija was eliminated from the tournament. Apparently Makhija ran his pocket queens into Matt Berkey's pocket aces and wasn't able to catch up. Makhija hit the rail but not without collecting a mincash for his efforts.

Hwang Sends One Packing

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

We found a short-stacked player ship all in for an unknown amount on a {2-Spades}{6-Clubs}{Q-Spades} flop. Andy Hwang called and showed {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and was ahead of his opponent's {K-Hearts}{J-Hearts}.

The board finished with the {4-Spades} on the turn and the {2-Hearts} on the river, allowing Hwang's eights to hold up. He scored the elimination and boosted his stack to around 140,000.

Holley Gets Another One

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Earlier we reported on a hand where Tod Holley doubled up to stay alive, and it seems like he's back at it again.

We walked into the action on the turn, where the board read {10-Hearts}{q-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and his opponent made it 7000 to go. Holley raised to around 25,000, and his opponent shoved all-in. Holley called showing {q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and on the river came the {3-Clubs}.

We did not get his opponents hand, but Holley won the pot to doubled-up again. His chip stack is now around 70,000.

Musumeci Pays Off Smith

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Justin Smith
Justin Smith

On a board of {6-Hearts}{5-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{3-Spades} Amanda Musumeci had a bet in front of her for 14,200. Justin Smith took a while to count the bet and think about his next move before moving all in for 40,200 chips.

That sent Musumeci into the tank. She thought about it for nearly three minutes before finally calling.

Smith showed {8-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for the nuts and Musumeci could only say, "Nice hand," as she mucked her cards.

Cooler for Kelly and Koon

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Dan Kelly
Dan Kelly

We didn't see how all the money got in but Jason Koon's {K-Spades}{K-Hearts} had been cracked by Dan Kelly's {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} after the board ran out {q-Spades}{a-Spades}{2-Spades}{8-Hearts}{J-Hearts}.

We did see Dan Kelly raking in the massive pot and adding the chips to his stack though. By cashing in this event Kelly is making yet another deep run at this year's World Series of Poker after having already cashed in five events and making two final tables.

Little Covers by 400

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Jonathan Little
Jonathan Little

We walked into a hand between Faraz Jaka and Jonathan Little. Both players almost had the exact same stack, minus a 400 difference.

The action picked up with a preflop raise from Little followed by three-bet from Jaka. Little responded with a four-bet, and Jaka moved all-in. Little snap-called, turning over {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}. Jaka showed {k-Spades}{q-Spades}.

The board ran out {a-Spades}{4-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{7-Hearts}, holding up for Little and falling short for Jaka. The table waited a few minutes for Jaka to count down his chip stack (98,000), only to find that Little (98,400) had him covered by just 400 in chips. The pile of chips doubled up Little to right around 195,000.
