Paul Volpe Vaults to Top of Leaderboard

Paul Volpe (Seen Here in Earlier WSOP Play), Has Taken the Chip Lead Here on Day 2

Paul Volpe is one of poker's rising stars, leading the Global Poker Index Player of the Year Standings by a comfortable margin while cashing in several of poker's most prestigious events worldwide. With his recent win in the EPT's Grand Final (€10,000 No Limit Hold'em - Six Handed Turbo), Volpe has proven that he has what it takes to win a major event.

After the last hand, Volpe now has the chip stack to back up his natural swagger, as he now sits with nearly three times the average stack early on Day 2.

The action began with the flop reading {10-Spades}{6-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}, and Volpe checking to his opponent. After a bet of 8,400, Volpe bumped it up to 17,200, and the other player came along to see the {9-Clubs} drop on the turn. Both players tapped the table, and the {6-Diamonds} completed the board on the river.

Volpe then led out for an all-in bet, forcing his opponent to the test if he wished to call. That's exactly what he did, calling off his last 23,000, but his cards were mucked quickly when Volpe rolled over the {9-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{6-Spades}{7-Hearts} for a full house on the turn.
