Corning Carves from Clements

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

Following a raise to 29,000 by Scott Clements from the hijack seat, both Daniel Corning (button) and Ryan Chapman (big blind) called. The flop came {9-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{J-Spades}. Chapman checked, Clements continued for 61,000, Corning called, and Chapman folded. The remaining two players then checked down the {9-Diamonds} turn and {J-Hearts} river.

Corning showed {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{8-Spades}{7-Spades} trip nines, and Clements mucked.

Maryska Wins a Massive Pot in First Hand

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante
Michal Maryska
Michal Maryska

On the first hand at the unofficial final table, Michal Maryska raised to 28,000 in middle position, and Isaac Hagerling called on his direct left. The rest of the players folded, and the flop fell {10-Spades}{k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}. Maryska led out for 32,000, Hagerling called, and the turn brought the {5-Clubs}. Maryska checked, Hagerling fired out 85,000, and Maryska tanked for well over three minutes before check-raising to 210,000. Hagerling entered the tank for roughly 90 seconds, then called.

The {9-Spades} completed the board, Maryska slid forward 105,000 (roughly half of his stack) and Hagerling called. Maryska showed {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} for the nuts, and Hagerling mucked his hand.

Anthony Zinno Eliminated in 11th Place ($23,010)

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante
Anthony Zinno - 11th Place
Anthony Zinno - 11th Place

Anthony Zinno opened for 31,000 from middle position, then Joni Jouhkimainen reraised the pot to 111,000 from the button. The blinds let their hands go, and after about a minute-and-a-half of thought Zinno called, leaving himself about 175,000 behind.

The flop came {Q-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}, and this time Zinno didn't wait long at all before saying he was all in and Jouhkimainen called right away.

Zinno: {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{5-Clubs} — club flush draw
Jouhkimainen: {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{9-Spades}{5-Hearts} — a pair of kings

The turn and river brought two more queens — {Q-Spades} and {Q-Hearts} — and Jouhkimainen improved to a full house as Zinno was knocked out in 11th.

There will be a short pause for a redraw, then the final 10 players will gather around the not-quite-final final table over on the main stage.

Ali Lareybi Eliminated in 12th Place ($23,010)

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante
Ali Lareybi - 12th Place
Ali Lareybi - 12th Place

Joni Jouhkimainen raised to 24,000 in early position, Ali Lareybi defended his big blind, and the dealer fanned {10-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}. Lareybi checked, and Jouhkimaninen bet the pot. Lareybi re-potted, going all in, and the Fin called.

Lareybi: {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{9-Spades}{8-Spades}
Jouhkimaninen: {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}{10-Spades}{6-Clubs}

The {q-Spades} on the turn gave the Fin Broadway, and he held as the {9-Diamonds} bricked off on the river. Lareybi was eliminated in 12th place, earning $23,010.

12 Remain, Final Table Awaits

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

"Are you going to play ten-handed?"

So asked Ryan Chapman of the tournament director near the end of the previous level. The TD responded with a question of his own.

"Are you?" he asked Chapman. "I hope so!" replied Chapman with a grin.

The TD went on to explain that yes, indeed, after two more eliminations the remaining players will redraw to sit around a single table.

Break

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

The players are now on a 20-minute break. We will have full chip counts for you shortly.

Lareybi "Fades Paint"

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

Jeff Madsen raised to 24,000 from the cutoff, Ali Lareybi raised the pot (87,000) on the button, and Madsen put him all in for just 2,000 more. Lareybi called.

Madsen: {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}
Lareybi: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{10-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

The flop fell {7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{9-Clubs}, giving Lareybi a straight, and the {3-Spades} on the turn left Madsen with three outs to chop the pot. The {k-Hearts} on the river wasn't one of them, yet, Lareybi reacted as if he had been eliminated.

Madsen apparently thought he had won as well, announcing two pair and pushing forward his {k-Clubs}{7-Clubs}, but the tournament director pulled out Lareybi's {10-Spades}{8-Diamonds} for a flopped straight.

Both players shared a laugh, and Lareybi was shipped the pot.

"All I was thinking was 'fade paint, fade paint,'" Lareybi said after the hand. "I didn't even see that I had a straight."
