Young Bubbles Event #35

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante

Bradley Young opened for the pot (6,600) from under the gun, leaving just a few hundred behind, and the action folded to a short-stacked AP Phahurat in the big blind. Phahurat tanked for quite some time, then called, showing {k-Spades}{9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}.

The action was paused as the table waited for the others to completed their hands, then finally Young showed {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}.

"High cards," he said. "Please."

The flop did not produce high cards: {5-Hearts}{6-Spades}{5-Spades}.

"F***," Young sighed. "Are you kidding me?"

Young receive no help on the turn ({2-Spades}) or the river ({7-Clubs}) either, and was eliminated on the Stone bubble. The remaining 72 players are all guaranteed a minimum of $4,927.

The blinds will now officially bump up to 1,000/2,000.

Landfish Out of Hot Water

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante

Steve Landfish was just all in and at risk versus Patrick Ruth but survived. We arrived for the counting down of chips, with the board showing {J-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}, Landfish holding {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} (flush), and Ruth {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{4-Spades} (trip tens).

Landfish kept standing and looking over the hands even after the chips were being counted, needing to double- and triple-check to assure himself he'd survived. "I keep looking for your flush," he said to Ruth with a smile before finally sitting back down.

Schneider Out, Sexton In

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante
Tom Schneider
Tom Schneider

Two-time 2013 WSOP bracelet winner Tom Schneider survived the bubble with a short stack, then lasted well into Level 13 before finally busting just now to add another cash to his Series résumé.

Meanwhile the person who gave Schneider his nickname many years ago on a World Poker Tour telecast, Mike Sexton, continues to battle over on Table 442.

Just now Sexton opened with a min-raise to 4,000 from the button, watched Sergey Pevzner reraise to 13,000 from the neighboring seat, then tanked for a while before letting his hand go. Pevzner showed Sexton a hand containing two red aces, and Sexton nodded in response.
