Lisandro Ascends

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante

"Welcome to PLO!"

So cried a player from Table 365 just now amid a post-flop all-in situation involving Jeff Lisandro and a lone opponent. The board showed {5-Spades}{2-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}, Lisandro held {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{3-Hearts}, and his opponent {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}. The turn was the {10-Clubs} and river the {7-Clubs}, and Lisandro's aces held.

Deeb Gets the Better of Tiller

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante

Shaun Deeb started the hand by opening to 500 from under the gun, before the player on the button made the call. Dee Tiller was on the big blind, and opted to raise it to 2,100. Both of his opponents called, as they saw the {9-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{8-Clubs} come on the flop. All three checked as the {9-Spades} made its way on the turn, before another check from Tiller was met with a bet of 3,800 from Deeb. The player on the button folded, as did Tiller, giving Deeb the pot.

Deeb happily showed Tiller, then the table, his {A-}{k-}{5-}{10-} for a bluff, before adding, “I tried to pull the same hand off like you did with your ace-king.”

This will surely be an entertaining battle, as Tiller has lost almost half his stack, and Deeb doubling from his original 15,000 in chips.

Omaha Brings Farha

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante

He's somewhat incognito at the moment, with no unlit cigarette between his lips and sitting quietly behind a pair of sunglasses as he plays. But it's him all right, three-time bracelet winner Sammy Farha, looking to add to his collection of Omaha bracelets won at the WSOP.

Back in 1996, Farha won a $2,500 PLO event, then after his memorable runner-up finish to Chris Moneymaker in the 2003 Main Event he'd return to win bracelets in 2006 ($5,000 Omaha Hi-Low) and 2010 ($10,000 Omaha Hi-Low).

Farha's mostly either small pots or folding, it appears, but we'll continue to keep tabs on him. We'll keep an ear out, too, for any "raise-y daisies."

Mercier on the Move

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante

Jason Mercier had turned up during the fourth level to play his stack, having run over during the dinner break of Event #39: $1,500 Seven-Card Stud Hi-Low Eight-or-Better.

They've only got about 20 minutes more here before the 30-minute dinner break, but Mercier is hoping to add a few extra chips here to tide him over as he continues his run in the other event. At present 45 players remain in Event #39, with Mercier having made the cash and currently enjoying one of the bigger stacks of those left.

This isn't the first time this summer Mercier has been double-dipping at the WSOP, as we saw earlier in the month:

The Promise!

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante

“35,000” said Dee Tiller, looking over at Shaun Deeb’s stack. “Won’t be long till it’s all mine.”

“You’re already counting it? You’re going to have to earn it,” replied Deeb.

“Oh, I’m a get you,” added Tiller.

The two have been exchanging words since Deeb took down a 40,000 pot between the two earlier, hitting a two-outer to scoop in the chips.

In the most recent hand between the two, Tiller and Deeb limped into the pot, and the big blind checked, as the three saw the flop come {Q-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{6-Hearts}. All three happily checked, as the {A-Clubs} fell on the turn. The big blind checked, as Tiller threw out a bet of 600. Only Deeb called, as Tiller dropped in a bet of 1,500 before the card was exposed. Deeb made the call when the card was tabled, but mucked his hand when Tiller showed his {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{5-Spades}.

“Keep calling. I’ll get you,” said Tiller, raking in the pot.

“It’s only 2,000,” replied Deeb, not concerned about giving a little back.

Exit Erick, Enter Erica

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante

Table 374 just saw a flurry of action in a short sequence of hands that saw three players eliminated — Dermott Blain, Erick Lindgren, and last year's winner of this event, Naoya Kihara.

Just moments after Lindgren was knocked out, his wife, Erica Schoenberg was moved to the very same table, taking the seat vacated by of one of the other eliminated players. Mixed feelings for Schoenberg, apparently, who didn't like hearing of Lindgren's knockout but didn't mind avoiding having to play against him.

Brown Turns It Around

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante

After losing his first lammer earlier on, Chad Brown has enjoyed Level 4 much better, having accumulated chips throughout then winning a big hand with just a few minutes left in the level to catapult up over the 70,000-chip mark.

Smith Loses a Few

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante

Dan Smith was just putting the last of his first stack in the middle following a {Q-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} flop holding {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} against an opponent's {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}. The turn was the {A-Spades} and river the {3-Spades}, and Smith was cashing in his remaining lammers to continue.

Rast Has it All

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante

Jarred Graham opened to 400 from the hijack, and was called by both blinds, one of which was Brian Rast. The flop came {8-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{2-Spades}, and all three checked, as the {10-Spades} fell on the turn. The small blind led out for 725, and was called by Rast, as Graham opted to fold. With the {Q-Clubs} coming on the river, the small blind check called a bet of 550 from Rast, but mucked after seeing {Q-Spades}{8-Spades}{8-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}.

“I flopped everything,” said Rast, after the hand. A nice pot to win for Rast, as he moves up to 27,000 in chips.
