No More Shadowboxing

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Artem Litvinov open-shoved for his last few thousand on the button, and Marvin Rettenmaier looked him up in the big blind.

Litvinov: {k-Hearts}{8-Spades}
Rettenmaier: {a-Clubs}{7-Spades}

Rettenmaier's hand held up as the board ran out {4-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{4-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}, and Litvinov picked up his tennis ball and his two-dollar bill before exiting the tournament area.

The Sulsky/Chidwick Feud Comes to a Head

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Stephen Chidwick
Stephen Chidwick

Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky and Stephen Chidwick have butted heads on more than a few occasions here on Day 2. Back in Level 9, Chidwick doubled after the online legend pushed with a flush draw and missed. Then, last level, Sulsky got a few chips back when the two battled yet again.

Most recently, we happened upon the dynamic duo engaged in hand with about 150,000 in the pot and a board reading {9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{q-Spades}{5-Spades}. Chidwick bet 90,000 from the big blind only to have Sulsky raise all in. Chidwick called off for 302,000 total and the cards were turned up.

Chidwick: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}
Sulsky: {k-Spades}{6-Spades}

Chidwick was ahead with pocket rockets but Sulsky, who was receiving a massage at the time, had a pair with a flush draw. The dealer burned one last time and put out the {8-Diamonds}. Sulsky missed and was left with just 39,000 after the hand.

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

David "Bakes" Baker set Alex Venovski all in on the {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{J-Spades} board. After a few minutes of tanking, Venovski made the call with the {K-Spades}{7-Clubs}. Baker held the {10-Hearts}{3-Clubs} for trip threes and won the pot. Venovski was eliminated while Baker climbed to 256,000 in chips.

Safieddine Doubles

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

On the board of {Q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{3-Diamonds} board, Francois Safieddine was all in for 87,000. Brandon Meyers folded, but Kevin Eyster made the call with the {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}. Safieddine held a better {2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} for bottom set and doubled when the {6-Diamonds} completed the board on the river.

Three Bets on the Flop

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Matt Russell led out for 11,000 on a flop of {4-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{9-Clubs}. Igor Kurganov bumped it up to 32,000, and not to be out done, Russell made it three bets, raising to 63,000. Kurganov quickly called.

The turn was the {a-Diamonds}, and Russell led out once again - this time for 45,000. Kurganov thought better up it, tossing his hand into the muck.

Todd Terry's Tens and More Cheese for the Monster

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Prior to the level change, Eric Sfez was all in and at risk preflop holding {a-Clubs}{10-Spades}, and unfortunately for him he was up against Todd Terry's {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}. The window was the case ten - the {10-Hearts} - and it was followed by the {5-Diamonds} and the {9-Diamonds}. Sfez was drawing dead when the {3-Diamonds} turned, and a meaningless {4-Diamonds} completed the board.

Over at an adjacent table, Chris Hunichen was eliminated by Keith Lehr with unknown action. Lehr, who doubled through Hunichen before eliminating him, now has 375,000 chips.

Katchalov Run Out of Town by Coach

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Eugene Katchalov on Day 1
Eugene Katchalov on Day 1

We heard Michael "Coach" Lipman shout out in celebration from across the room, which grabbed the attention of the entire field. "Yeah," he exclaimed. "Runner, runner, runner, runner, runner."

We missed what happened but Lipman filled us in after the fact. According to him, Katchalov was all in preflop for about 80,000 with {a-}{k-} and well ahead of Lipman's {a-Spades}{j-Spades}.

The {q-}{q-Spades}{9-} flop kept Katchalov firmly ahead, but the {5-Spades} turn made things interesting by giving Lipman a flush draw. Needless to say, Lipman's reaction was a result of hitting that flush when the {3-Spades} peeled off on the river.

With that, Katchalov's run in Event #52: $25,000 No-Limit Hold'em (Six Handed) came to an end.

Lehr Flops a Boat to Double Through Hunichen

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Chris Hunichen raised from the cutoff and was met by a three-bet to 29,000 from Keith Lehr on the button. The blinds folded, Hunichen four-bet all in and Lehr thought for about a minute before calling off for 105,500 total.

Hunichen: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Lehr: {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}

It was a flip, but not after the flop came down {8-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}. Lehr flopped a boat and left Hunichen looking for running cards. The {10-Spades} turn took away any hope of that happening and after the {6-Clubs} was put out on the river, Lehr was shipped the pot.
