Gimbel Raises River

Level 1 : 50/75, 0 ante

Steve Gross checked to Harrison Gimbel on a flop of {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}, and the 2010 PCA Main Event winner tossed out a bet of 225. Gross called.

The turn was the {9-Spades}, and both players checked. The river was the {q-Clubs}. Gross, a 2013 WSOP bracelet winner, fired out 600, Gimbel raised to 1,750, and Gross found a fold.

The $5,000 Six-Handed No-Limit Hold'em Set to Begin!

Defending champion Erick Lindgren
Defending champion Erick Lindgren

Welcome to PokerNews' Day 1 coverage of Event #24: $5,000 Six-Handed No-Limit Hold'em.

This marks the third six-handed event of the 2014 World Series of Poker and the first two have been excellent, to say the least. Justin Bonomo earned his first bracelet in the $1,500 buy-in, finally captuing WSOP gold after several close calls. Davidi Kitai, meanwhile, won his third bracelet in the $3,000 buy-in.

Last year, Erick Lindgren topped a star-studded field of 516 players to capture his second bracelet and we expect him to be in the field today to defend his title.

The plan for Day 1 is for 10 levels to be played. The cards will be in the air at noon local time, so be sure to keep it here at PokerNews for live updates on all of the exciting action!
