"I've Got Too Much S*** I Don't Want People to Know"

Level 5 : 250/500, 50 ante

Omaha Hi-Low

Gavin Smith is one of the most affable players in poker. His jovial disposition, love of the drink, and trademark fedora make him a fan favorite in nearly every tournament he plays. Today, that tournament is Event #25: $2,500 Omaha/Seven-Card Stud Hi-Low.

We recently passed by Smith's table and saw him sitting with a copy of Dutch Boyd's new book Poker Tilt.

"When are we going to get a book about you?" we asked. Smith replied that he didn't write well enough, but we countered by saying he could always get someone else, like his good friend Nolan Dalla, to write it.

"I've got too much s*** I don't want people to know," Smith said with a smile.

A moment later, action folded to Smith in the cutoff and he raised. Only the big blind called and the two saw a flop of {6-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}. The big blind check-called a bet of 250, and then proceeded to check-call bets of 500 on both the {6-Hearts} turn and {9-Diamonds} river.

Smith tabled the {a-Spades}{9-Spades}{j-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} for aces and nines, which was good for the high. The big blind then showed the {3-Spades}{7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{4-Spades} for a low and the other half of the pot.
