"Of Course I Knew He Had It"

Level 6 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

With a big pot already established until the {A-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} turn, Naman Madan checked from the hijack and Richard Gryko got his remaining few chips in the middle of the table. Madan almost beat him into the pot and the following cards were turned over in the showdown:

Richard Gryko: {9-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}
Naman Madan: {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{5-Hearts}

While Gryko had flopped the straight, he was already drawing dead and could all but laugh when the meaningless {3-Hearts} river completed the board. "Did you see his hand?" one player at the table asked and Madan smirked back.

"Of course I knew he had it, I knew he had four five," Madan replied and raked in the pot.

Tran Chips Up Some

Level 6 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

On the turn of {A-Spades}{4-Hearts}{2-Spades}{A-Hearts}, JC Tran checked over to Veselin Karakitukov and called a bet of 7,200 by the Bulgarian on the button. Tran checked again the {6-Hearts} on the river and Karakitukov checked back to get shown the {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} for a full house by Tran. That was enough to claim the pot, as Karakitukov sent his cards into the muck.

Bottom Set Works for Calderaro

Level 6 : 500/1,000, 0 ante
James Calderaro
James Calderaro

There were about 10,000 chips in the middle and a flop of {K-Spades}{J-Clubs}{4-Hearts} was on the table when we arrived. Defending champion James Calderaro bet 7,000 from under the gun and William Huntress called from the hijack.

The turn brought the {5-Clubs} and Calderaro checked. Huntress bet 12,000 and Calderaro called.

The {9-Clubs} hit the river and both players checked. Calderaro tabled {6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} and his set of fours was good enough to win the pot.

Varnell's Straight is Good

Level 6 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

With a substantial pot of about 65,000 already in the middle and the completed board reading {J-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{10-Clubs}, Craig Varnell was in the small blind and heads-up against Ben Tollerene in the big blind. Varnell checked, Tollerene bet 35,000, and Varnell called. He announced "straight" and tabled {Q-Spades}{9-Clubs}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds}. Tollerene mucked and Varnell took the chips.

Touil Busts to Prociak

Level 6 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

With more than 100,000 already in the middle and the turn reading {9-Spades}{7-Spades}{6-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}, Samuel Touil moved all in for what appeared to be 70,000 and his table neighbor David Prociak called with the superior stack.

Samuel Touil: {A-Spades}{J-Spades}{9-Clubs}{2-Hearts}
David Prociak: {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}

Touil was in need of spades as Prociak had flopped the straight and a blank {K-Hearts} on the river spelled the end for the Frenchman, at least for now. Prociak, who already has one WSOP bracelet and circuit ring to his name, moved up on the leaderboard to become one of the biggest stacks.

D'Angelo Doubles Through Khan

Level 6 : 500/1,000, 0 ante
Ryan D'Angelo
Ryan D'Angelo

There were about 8,000 chips in the pot and the board read {K-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} when we got to the table. Junayed Khan checked from the big blind and Ryan D'Angelo bet the pot from the cutoff. Khan check-raised to put D'Angelo to a decision for the remainder of his stack, which was less than 10,000, and he called to put himself at risk.

Junayed Khan: {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}
Ryan D'Angelo: {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{9-Spades}

Khan had flopped bottom two pair but found himself trailing D'Angelo's top two. The {4-Diamonds} turn and {6-Spades} river changed nothing and D'Angelo took the pot to double up.

Simao and Merrilees Enter

Level 6 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

Within quick succession, Joao Simao and Daniel Merrilees entered the competition with the field pushing towards 170 entries in the sixth level of the day.

Merrilees immediately got involved in a big pot and had invested some 20,000 along with Artem Babakhanyan and Dominykas Karmazinas. The completed board showed {7-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{3-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} and Babakhanyan was the one to bet the river, making it 38,200 to go. Karmazinas quickly folded and Merrilees came to the same conclusion.

Simao defended his big blind against a raise by Fraser MacIntyre and bet a flop of {4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} for 3,700 into a pot of 5,500. MacIntyre raised it up to 15,000 and Simao called. On the {Q-Diamonds} turn, Simao checked and folded when facing a bet worth 26,000 by MacIntyre.

Touil Takes It Without Showdown

Level 6 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

With 6,000 in the middle and the flop showing {10-Spades}{6-Spades}{5-Diamonds}, Sam Stein bet 4,000 in the small blind and Samuel Touil raised it up to 15,000. One short stack called with around 30,000 behind, while Richard Tuhrim on the button and Stein folded.

The {2-Hearts} appeared on the turn and Touil made it 40,000 to go. A quick fold followed and the Frenchman scooped the pot without showdown.
