Joao Vieira was one of the dozens of players who arrived today to receive a starting stack and try to work with 25 big blinds. Vieira's tournament experience was, however, cut to just 40 minutes.

He lost almost all his chips when he three-bet over a 5,200-raise from the hijack, making it 17,600 on the button. Lee Watkinson acted next and jammed for his last 33,600 and the hijack got out of the way. Vieira visibly didn't like the spot he ended up in, but he had to make the call.

Vieira: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{J-Spades}{3-Clubs}
Watkinson: {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{6-Spades}

The board ran {10-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{2-Spades}{3-Spades}{6-Hearts}, securing a safe double for the 2006 champion of this very event. Vieira left his chair but the table informed him that he had some chips left.

Vieira returned to his seat and put his 4,200 in play with kings. He ran into a flush and while he hit a set on the turn, the river card was a brick and Vieira finally left his table.
