Rup Eliminates Hoelzle

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Philippe Rup opened to 56,000 from early position and Melvin Hoelzle moved all in for 62,000. Douglas Fullerton flat-called and Rup then announced raise.

The floor was called and because Hoelzle's all in was for only 6,000 more he was not allowed to raise so just called.

The flop came {6-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} and Fullerton check-folded to a perhaps predictable Rup shove.

Philippe Rup: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}
Melvin Hoelzle: {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

Hoelze would need clubs or more to help him and the {7-Clubs} was a start. But the {q-Spades} wasn't enough and he was eliminated.

Hong Gifted Back Into the Chiplead

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Action was picked up in a hand between Jay Hong and Gary Gibbs just as the dealer fanned the {k-Diamonds} on a board reading {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}, and a sizable pot already in the middle. Gibbs, first to act, said "All in," and as soon as Hong made the call Gibbs then said, "You're good," and tabled {a-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for the missed flush draw, while Hong tabled {k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for two pair and eliminated Gibbs from the tournament. Hong added almost 700,000 to his stack, which sent him back to the top of the leaderboard.

Don't Slow-Play Kings

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

After Alden Hermansen raise up to 40,000 from early position, action folded around to Steven Wenrich and he made the call from his big blind. Wenrich then check-called a 60,000 continuation bet from Hermansen on the {9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{5-Clubs} flop. After both players checked the {5-Diamonds} turn, Wenrich then led out for 50,000 and was called by Hermansen. Wenrich tabled {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}, and after Hermansen tabled {a-Spades}{6-Spades}, Wenrich remarked, "That's why you don't slow-play kings."

Cary Marshall
Cary Marshall

Michael Moore opened from the hijack and Cary Marshall defended his button.

The flop came {4-}{6-}{7-} with two hearts. Moore bet 50,000 and Marshall raised to 150,000. Moore called.

The turn was the {5-} and Moore moved all in Marshall took his time before calling.

Michael Moore: {5-Spades}{6-Spades}
Cary Marshall: {5-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

Both players had turned two pair, with Marshall's being bigger. He also held a flush draw but his two pair held as the river bricked, moving up to two million in chips.

Miller Rivers Lang

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 24,000 ante

The board read {q-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{5-Spades} and Jeffrey Miller checked to Eugene Lang who moved all in for 270,000. Miller thought before calling.

"Good call," said Lang tapping the table and showing {a-Clubs}{10-Spades}, but he was ahead of the {7-Spades}{8-Spades} of Miller.

The turn was the {q-Clubs} but the river {9-Spades} completed Miller's flush and sent Lang to the rail.

"That's how you win tournaments!" said someone at his table.
