Hands #37-42: Sammartino's Ace-High No Good

Level 23 : 150,000/300,000, 50,000 ante

Hand #37: Dario Sammartino called the blind from late position and Doug Polk checked. The flop came {3-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and Polk checked. Sammartino bet 300,000 and Polk called. Polk checked the {9-Spades} and Sammartino checked back. On the {j-Spades} river, Polk checked and Sammartino bet 500,000.

Polk thought about a minute and said something to Sammartino before he released.

Hand #38: Rainer Kempe moved all in from the button. That got two folds from the blinds.

Hand #39: Sammartino raised to 650,000. Everyone behind him folded.

Hand #40: Polk raised from the cutoff to 650,000 and nobody wanted to play.

Hand #41: Bertrand Grospellier opened to 650,000 first to act. Sammartino defended the big blind.

The flop came {6-Spades}{5-Spades}{k-Hearts} and Sammartino checked. Grospellier bet 750,000. Sammartino called to see the {j-Clubs}. Both players checked. A {2-Hearts} arrived on the river. Both checked again and Sammartino lost the showdown with {a-}{q-} against {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}.

Hand #42: Martin Jacobson raised preflop and won the pot from the button.
