Seidel Doubles Through Linton

Contemplating Linton's sad face
Contemplating Linton's sad face
Pete Linton has taken another hit, this time doubling up Erik Seidel. All in preflop, Seidel pipped Linton to the post, holding {9-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} to Linton's {8-Diamonds} {8-Clubs}. Nothing of much note happened on the {7-Spades} {6-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {10-Spades} board, and Linton is down to 9,500 while Seidel is up to 12,500. Linton made a sad face at me, and sighed, "It's all going wrong..."

Yevgeniy Timoshenko Chip Leader

For the first time today, a player in my area has apparently snagged the chip lead. With roughly 40,000 he's been headed nowhere but upwards since arriving at his second table of the day, and stacking chips so neatly he could be a croupier in piles of 20, you hardly notice that one of those piles is made of T1,000 chips and one of T500s...

Having recently won half a million dollars in Macau, this quietly capable young man is definitely one to watch.

Liv-in' on the Edge

The Livimator
The Livimator
Grinder of the day (a prestigious award, believe you me) must surely go to poker hottie Liv Boeree. She's barely been above her starting stack all day, and still only has 4,725 with blinds at 200 and 400 with a running ante of 50. Her stack has been in a couple of times, but mainly from late position where she whipped up the blinds uncontested.

With the dinner break fast-approaching, now would be a cracking time for a double-up.

Ashby Burns Out

UK circuit regular Richard Ashby is out, getting his chips in on a classic coinflip with pocket ladies against Darren Fuller's {A-?}{K-?}. A king on the flop and a handshake later, and Ashby turns to dust.

House for Hassan

An unknown opponent sporting a bold mullet has fallen prey to Mohammed Hassan's pocket jacks. The now-busted owner of said haircut was racing with {A-?}{K-?}, but the {J-?}{Q-?}{K-?}{Q-?}-x board put an end to his hopes, and he silently headed to the rail.

"Don't Worry, I'll Show"

With a {Q-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{7-Spades} board lying patiently on the felt, Brandon Cantu popped out a bet of 4,200 and awaited his opponent's decision. As William Martin deliberated, Cantu commented, "Lay it down, I'll show." Martin made a defiant call.

A {10-Spades} on the river triggered a deep reach from Cantu, who shoved in just about enough chips to put his foe all in. As Martin ummed and aahed, Cantu repeated his previous offer: "Don't worry, I'll show," slurred the former WPT winner.

Martin ultimately released his hand, and was shown {10-Hearts}{6-Hearts}.

Leif Can't Find the Force

Shaggy-haired Leif Force, who banked over a million dollars for his 11th-place finish in the 2006 WSOP Main Event, survived to the dinner break, but not for much longer. On one of the first hands back, he moved all in for his last 4,400, his {K-Diamonds} {10-Spades} unable to improve against his opponent's {A-Spades} {K-Hearts} when the board came {9-?} {9-?} {8-?} {7-?} {5-?}.
