Akenhead Gets Phan-tastic Double-Up

Not feeling so Phan-dabby-dosey now
Not feeling so Phan-dabby-dosey now
James Akenhead raises 1,600 from mid-position and is called by John Phan, Tim Blake on the button, and the big blind. The flop is {A-Spades} {3-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}, the big blind checks, Akenhead checks, Phan bets 2,400, and Blake and the big blind both fold.

Akenhead thinks for a moment, before moving all in for an additional 10,300 while Phan thinks for about 30 seconds before meekly shoveling a pile of yellow T1,000 chips into the middle. Akenhead doesn't like the call, almost shrugging as he flips {A-Hearts} {8-Hearts} while Phan calmly turns over {J-Clubs} {9-Clubs}.

The turn is the {6-Hearts} and the river is the {7-Spades}, putting Akenhead onto almost 30,000, while Phan is on 34,000.

Steinberg Gets the Maximum Piece Out of Jerome

Just before the color-up...

I approached the table and the turn had just been dealt, showing a {K-Hearts} {9-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} {A-Spades} board. Max Steinberg was in the small blind and bet 5,500 into the big blind of Jerome Bradpiece, who made the call.

The river came {A-Clubs} and Steinberg immediately went all in for just over 13,000. Their stack sizes were pretty similar, so both the player's tournaments were at risk. Bradpiece studied his opponent above and below the table and made the call.

Steinberg showed {A-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} for quad aces! Bradpiece mucked and after a countdown it was confirmed he's been eliminated.

We Need a Ruling!

Andy Black and Phil Laak have been locking verbal horns all day, most of it good-natured and jovial. However, in the last hand they played, the two began shouting at each other over the manner in which Laak bet the river, necessitating a visit from TD extraordinaire Steve Frezer.

With the board reading {Q-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds}, Black bet 3,000 on the river. Laak picked up some chips in each hand and moved them both to the center of the table to put out a raise, only he dribbled three yellow T1,000s out of his right hand before tossing the rest of the raise in.

Black felt it was a string bet and Frezer agreed, ruling Laak's move a call.

Laak won the hand anyway, his {K-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} out-flopping Black's {J-Spades} {J-Clubs}.

Can't Win 'Em All

John Phan opened for 2,400 from middle position, the small blind moved all in for 8,300 total and Phan made the call. Phan's {8-?} {8-?} was in great shape against the small blind's {5-Spades} {5-Hearts}, but the {7-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {6-Spades} {7-Spades} board made his opponent a straight, denting Phan's stack further.

Once up to nearly 50,000, Phan is down to about 24,000.

Lights Off!

Too much lights compared to camera and action
Andy Bloch has been attempting to find a way to turn off all the lights around his table off, albeit with no success.

"It's too hot around here, we don't need all these lights...I mean who has lights that are only six feet off the ground? They're a fire hazard!"

Free Dinner on the Way

The Kid's alright

After doubling up through Jean-Robert Bellande (we'll try and find out details), Adam Junglen didn't stop in his attempt to attain chips.

He called a raise to 2,200 from a late-position player whilst sitting in the big blind, before the flop came {5-Spades} {8-Spades} {6-Diamonds}.

Both players checked it, so we headed straight to the turn {8-Diamonds}. Junglen led out for 2,200 before his opponent bumped it up to 5,700, leaving himself 10,700 back. Junglen then reraised enough to put his opponent all in and eventually forcing the fold.

Junglen is up to a massive 81,000 now. "He's pretty good," aimed Shaun Deeb at me from the next seat.
