Lederer Resurging

Hold'em:

With the board reading {Q-Diamonds} {7-Spades} {2-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} on the turn, Howard Lederer bet out and Sherkhan Farnood called. The {3-Spades} on the river brought another bet from Lederer, leading Farnood to muck his cards.

Courtesy of these last two hold'em pots, Lederer has built his stack back up to 363,000.

It's still anyone's game.

Setback for Farnood

Omaha 8:

Sherkhan Farnood is down to 175,000 after locking horns with current chip daddy Ivo Donev.

With the board reading {5-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{J-Spades}, Farnood led for 12,000, Donev made it 24,000 and Farnood called.

On the {4-Clubs} turn, Farnood check-folded to a bet of 24,000.

Donev Drags Another

Hold'em:

Ivo Donev raised and Sherkhan Farnood called from the big blind. The flop was {A-Diamonds} {K-Spades} {3-Clubs}. Farnood led out, Donev raised and Farnood called. The turn was the {Q-Diamonds} and both players checked. The river was the {K-Diamonds}. Farnood checked, Donev bet and Farnood called.

Donev turned up {K-Hearts} {2-Spades} for trips and raked in the sizeable pot.

Snoopy System

"Say whaaaat?"
"Say whaaaat?"
I am proud to report that at 2pm tomorrow, yours truly will be pitching up tent here in the Empire Casino, Leicester Square and giving away signed copies of my world-famous book, Snoopy System. Oh, okay, you've rumbled me, it's Doyle Brunson, armed with a caseload of Super Systems, and there's no such book called Snoopy System.

I will still be available for autographs though, if you're looking for someone who's achieved slightly more in the game.

Sherkhan Scoops, Seeks Fans

Aren't you rooting for me?
Aren't you rooting for me?
Omaha 8:

On a flop of {J-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} Sherkhan Farnood bet and Ivo Donev called. The {3-Hearts} landed on the turn. Farnood bet again and Donev called. The {3-Clubs} paired the board on the river. Undeterred, Farnood led again and Donev called.

Farnood showed {5-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {7-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} for a flush and scooped the pot.

Then, perhaps a bit jealous of Howard Lederer's railbirds (including Andy Bloch, his niece Jen Creason, and writer Michael Craig) the affable Farnood offered himself a round of applause.

Farnood Razzes Lederer

Razz:

Donev: (X) (X) {10-?} {7-?}

Lederer: (X) (X) {5-?} {Q-?} {10-?} {2-?} (X)

Farnood: (X) (X) {4-?} {5-?} {J-?} {5-?} (X)

Ivo Donev brought it in on third street, Howard Lederer completed, Sherkhan Farnood called and Donev called. On fourth street, Farnood led out with the low board, Lederer called and Donev folded. On fifth street Farnood bet out and Lederer called. Farnood paired fives on sixth street, inviting a bet from Lederer, but Farnood made the call. Seventh street brought a bet from Lederer and a call from Farnood.

"Ten," said Lederer, indicating a ten low.

Farnood slapped his {A-?} {8-?} {9-?} in the hole on the table, for a 9-8-5-4-A low and began applauding himself again.

In perhaps the first bit of emotion we've seen from The Professor tonight, he mucked sharply and let out the sort of frustrated sigh only razz can induce.

Lederer is down to 276,000 while Farnood is up over 300,000.

Donev Straightens Lederer Out

Stud:

Lederer seems to have stumbled upon frustrating times, perhaps the early hour even getting to The Professor as fatigue finally begins to settle in. The last hand with Ivo Donev was just one of a handful of recent encounters that didn't go his way:

Donev = {6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}
Lederer = {7-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{A-Hearts}

Fourth street: Lederer bet 12,000, Donev called.
Fifth street: Both players checked.
Sixth street: Lederer bet 24,000, Donev raised to 48,000, Lederer called.

On the final street, Donev came out firing to the tune of 24,000, only for Lederer to grimace, blow out his cheeks and make what appeared to be a very reluctant call indeed. His negative vibes were sadly justified as Donev revealed {6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} for the straight.

Lederer quickly mucked and is now the current short stack with 135,000.

Sherkhan Farnood Cripples Howard Lederer

Stud:

Lederer: (X) (X) {5-Hearts} {3-Spades} {7-Clubs} {2-Hearts} (X)

Farnood: (X) (X) {9-Clubs} {A-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} (X)

Howard Lederer had the bring-in, Sherkhan Farnood completed, Ivo Donev folded and Lederer called. Farnood led out on fourth and fifth streets and Lederer called. Sixth street brought a check from Farnood, a bet from Lederer, and a call from Farnood. Both players checked seventh street.

Farnood rolled over {8-Clubs} {8-Spades} {6-Hearts} for a pair of eights. Lederer looked back at his hand resignedly and mucked. Farnood dragged the pot, leaving Lederer with only 22,000 in chips.

Howard Lederer Eliminated in 3rd Place (£30,250)

Stud 8:

With just 27,000 in chips, I lurked over the shoulder of Howard Lederer, notepad poised as I awaited his exit like a bloodthirsty vulture.

The first hand he survived, whipping up the antes early doors by making it 12,000 with the {8-Spades} showing. Ivo Donev seemed tempted with the {8-Diamonds}, but ultimately conceded his hand.

On the next hand, Lederer made the same move, bumping it up to 12,000 with the {8-Diamonds} showing. This time, however, his opponents were less accommodating.

Howard Lederer = {8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Sherkhan Farnood = {K-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}
Ivo Donev = {2-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}

After Lederer had made it 12,000, Farnood reraised to 24,000, Donev called, Lederer pushed for 9,000 more, Farnood raised again (he sought permission first), and Donev called.

"Good luck, my friend," said Farnood as Lederer sat back in his seat.

Fourth street: Farnood bet 12,000, Donev called.
Fifth street: Both players checked.
Sixth street: Farnood led for 24,000, and Donev called.
Seventh street: Check, check.

With Lederer's sweet nothings to the Poker Gods falling on deaf ears, the remaining two players chopped the pot, with Farnood showing {K-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and two pair for the high, and Donev tabling {8-Spades}{6-Spades}{2-Hearts} and a 2-4-5-6-8 for the low. Lederer mucked.

Bugles at the ready, the bracelet is on its way.
