Micro Becomes Short

Jolyne Thompson was sitting on a micro 6,000 stack and moved it all in from the cut-off. Max Pescatori reraised to 10,000 from the next seat and that was enough to force out the blinds leaving us heads-up.

Thompson: {A-Spades} {10-Hearts} {2-Spades} {5-Hearts}
Pescatori: {K-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {2-Clubs} {A-Clubs}

The board came {9-Spades} {8-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {3-Spades} {K-Hearts} making the nut flush for Thompson and moving her to a short-stacked 15,000.

Time Out

The tournament clock has been paused while the tournament staff assists the players with a redraw.

We'll have the new seat assignments posted for you momentarily.

Woe Is Me...

Jason Mercier, Chip Architect

After Jason Mercier transported his monster stack from his old table to his new one, he let out a deep sigh...

"Now I got to redo this whole thing," he complained, referring to having to re-stack all of his chips.

"What a problem to have," replied new neighbor Shaun Deeb.

Then on the table next door, Erik Seidel put his last few chips in with {A-?} {A-?} {Q-?} {7-?} against Theo Jorgensen's {A-?} {10-?} {9-?} {6-?} which outdrew Seidel on a {10-?} {9-?} {6-?} {8-?} {2-?} board.

Deeb Buys One from Mercier

Action folded around to Shaun Deeb in the cutoff (essentially the button, as Sami Kelopuro was eliminated in the small blind on the hand before), and he made it 7,500 to go. Mercier made the call from the small blind and the two saw a {K-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} flop.

Mercier passed the first option to Deeb who made a continuation bet of 13,500. Mercier called once more and the turn brought the {9-Diamonds}.

Another check from Mercier sent the action to Deeb who upped the ante to 30,000. Mercier took one last peek at his hole cards before eventually tossing them into the muck.

"Nice bluff," Mercier chided.

"No bluff," Deeb replied as he turned over the {2-Hearts}. "I had it," he said with a laugh.

Tales from the Tables

"Am I the youngest player still in the tournament?" inquires Mike McDonald.

"You know, the final is being played in Vegas in November..." says Max Pescatori, "so you can't make it!"

Meanwhile, Neil Channing is looking forward to break, "I hate my table, I'm looking forward to a quiet two hours."

Deeb Busts Isaia

Alessio Isaia raises to 7,500 and Shaun Deeb reraises to 24,000 next to him. Alessio makes the call with around another 24,000 back.

The flop is {Q-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds}, Isaia checks and Deeb puts out a stack of blue 5K chips. Isaia looks pained but calls for the remainder of his stack with {A-Hearts} {10-Clubs} {9-Spades} {8-Hearts} and Deeb flips {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} to put the Italian in big trouble. The turn is the {Q-Hearts} giving Deeb the house and the river is the {6-Hearts} knocking Isaia out in 25th place.
