Hand #171 - John Juanda

John Juanda has the button in Seat 5 and makes it 70,000 to go. Ivan Demidov folds from the small blind and Stanislav Alekhin calls from the big.

The flop comes {8-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} and Alekhin checks to Juanda who makes a continuation bet of 110,000. Alekhin makes the call and the dealer burns and turns the {4-Hearts}.

Alekhin attempts to take control of the pot on the turn with a 230,000 wager, but can't shake Juanda who calls.

The river brings the {7-Diamonds} and Alekhin makes a gargantuan 500,000 bet. Juanda counts out 500,000 in chips -- a perfect stack of 20 25,000 chips -- and places them off to the right while he shuffles a smaller stack of yellow 1,000 chips.

"I raise all in," says Juanda, who makes a back-handed motion toward the pot with his arm.

The move garnered cheers from the audience and a quick fold from Alekhin, sending the pot Juanda's way.

The pot hoisted Juanda into the chip lead for the first time in a long time, with 3,503,000 in chips. Stanislav dropped to 2,961,000 with the loss.
