Cagey Start

Down to just one table, it's as if the potential of a bracelet and a handsome first prize has finally sunk in after a Day Two that was played in the light-hearted spirit of a local £10 rebuy rather than a £1,000 WSOPE event. Consequently, play has kicked off in tight fashion with nobody wanting to make an unforced error and miss out on that final table spot. In fact, on the very first hand, William Martin received a rare, but welcome walk in the big blind.

Redraw Time

Down to 10 players, there has been a redraw for the 10-handed unofficial final table.

Seat 1: Ganesh Bathmanathan -- 185,000
Seat 2: Fabien Dunlop -- 515,000
Seat 3: James Tomlin -- 75,000
Seat 4: William Martin -- 135,000
Seat 5: Richard Allen -- 225,000
Seat 6: Anthony Roux -- 110,000
Seat 7: Adnan Alshamah -- 165,000
Seat 8: JP Kelly -- 245,000
Seat 9: Thor Drexel -- 50,000
Seat 10: Neil Suarez -- 56,000

Toni Huynh Busts in 11th Place (£9,381)

Wow, there was the tantalizing possibility that it might all be over for the night...

Toni Huynh: all in with {K-Spades} {10-Spades}
Adnan Alshamah: all in for slightly more than Huynh with {K-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}
Fabien Dunlop: massively covering them both and holding {A-Spades} {9-Clubs}

An enormous crowd appeared around the table and started shouting for various favoured cards to appear on the board.

Board: {J-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {J-Spades}

Well, it's not quite over, but with handshakes all round we lose Toni Huynh while Alshamah enjoys a nice triple up.

Frazer Eliminated in 12th Place (£9,381)

With a stack of 30,500 before him, Ian Frazer decided to push all in from under the gun, and duly slid his remaining chips across the felt. After removing his head phones (always a sign of a big decision), Richard Allen made the call one seat down.

"Oh my God!" exclaimed Ganesh Bathmanathan on the button. "I can't believe what I'm going to fold, can I put my hand to one side? You won't believe what I'm going to fold. I fold."

Frazer = {K-Spades}{J-Spades}
Allen = {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

"I'll tell you what I folded," continued Bathmanathan. "I had Ace-Queen of spades. Oh my God, I can't believe I folded. Ace-Queen."

The board came {4-Spades}{9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{8-Spades}, and amid the wittering of Bathmanathan gasping at every card, we lost Mr. Frazer in 12th place.

Bathroom Break

Apparently certain players have been having a few drinks and requested a five minute break to use the facilities.

Play will resume shortly.

Dunlop Can Afford to Lose

Chip monster Fabien Dunlop has taken a couple of hits.

First of all he got himself involved from the button with William Martin in the cutoff. They made it to the end of the {Q-Clubs} {K-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} {9-Hearts} board and Martin checked. Dunlop checked behind, and turned over {Q-?} {4-?} for two pair -- and everyone was most surprised when Martin turned over {K-?} {10-?} for a sneakily-played full house that never got paid off.

A few hands later, Dunlop doubled up Anthony Roux when his {K-?} {J-?} failed to hit against Roux's pocket fours.

Nevertheless, the 480,000 that Dunlop is left with still represents roughly a 2:1 chip lead over anyone else in the tournament.

The UK's Daniel Negaru

With the board reading {5-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{4-Spades}{8-Diamonds}, Ganesh Bathmanathan led out for 8,000, along with his trademark trash talk. After a brief dwell, Thor Drexel, who was out of position, made the call.

"Two pair," declared Bathmanathan as he tabled {K-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}. Drexel mucked.

"Thank you," continued Bathmanathan. "I'll give you respect when it's due, yeah? Thank you, thank you. I am the Daniel Negaru of this country."

"It's Negreanu," corrected neighbour James Tomlin.

"I don't know how to say his name, but whatever it is, I'm the Daniel Negaru of this country."

Said Englund Eliminated in 13th Place (£6,980)

Said Englund limped under the gun and it folded around to Fabien Dunlop in the small blind, who raised to 27,000. Back to Englund, who reraised an amount that escaped me as by the time I got around to looking up from my notepad, Dunlop had announced all in, and Englund had called.

Dunlop: {7-Clubs} {7-Hearts}
Englund: {A-Diamonds} {K-Clubs}

Board: {2-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} {5-Clubs}

We are down to 12, and Dunlop is up to a frankly obscene 550,000. "How big are your wrists?" enquired tablemate William Martin. "You should get them to get the bracelet now..."

Allen Takes One Down

James Tomlin opened for 11,000 from the cut-off, Ian Frazer made it 35,000 from the small blind, Richard Allen pushed all in from the big blind and Tomlin folded. With around 35,000 behind, Frazer thought and thought before one final thought, and then folded. Disappointingly, our curiosity remained unsatisfied and play continued with 12.
