Bloch Party

It was a strange hand, surreal almost. The board read {J-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{2-Spades} and James Akenhead had called bets of 1,500 and 3,600 from Andy Bloch, and now faced a final, substantially meatier bet of 10,000.

Meanwhile, the tension created by both them and the rest of the table, was being amusingly broken by Mike Matusow and John Juanda, who wittered across the felt about various topics such as how "Phil Ivey couldn't bet a certain amount in some casino, and how they never put a limit on Archie", etc, etc. Finally, and as Akenhead continued to dwell, the chatting ceased, and silence drifted across the entire table.

He didn't like, but Akenhead eventually made the call. Bloch showed {A-Spades}{3-?}{A-Clubs}{K-Spades}, for a cheeky runner runner flush that was had crept up like a wolf in sheep's clothing. And the man that got bitten? He was left with just five or six thousand.

Akenhead Eliminated

On what I believe was the very next hand, James Akenhead raised to 1,500 from UTG+1 with {K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}, only to be reraised to 4,000 from the button. Akenhead made the call. Then, on the {J-Hearts}{A-Spades}{3-Spades} flop, Akenhead check-pushed all in, but ran headfirst into {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{7-Spades}{6-Hearts}. No help on the {4-Diamonds} turn and {5-Hearts} river and the November Niner was gone.

Dwan Going Well

Tom Dwan just took down a big pot with a bet of 20,000 on a {Q-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} flop. Both players, one of whom was WSOPE bracelet winner Dario Alioto, folded.

It's difficult to see as Dwan's table is tucked beneath the staircase, but it appears as though he has around the 50,000 mark.

Big'uns

A few big stacks are now starting to emerge, a handful of them include:

Sandra Naujoks -- 60,000
William Thorson -- 56,000
Shaun Deeb --58,000
Tom Dwan -- 50,000

Dalby Takes a Hit

Eric Dalby snap-called a short-stacks push for 11,000 on a {5-Spades}{5-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}. Dalby had his nose in front with {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} versus {8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}, but the river came the {8-Spades} to steal the pot away. Considering Dalby still has 38,000, this would have left him challenging for the chip lead.

Annette Loss

Hovering in the 12-16k zone for a level or so, Annette Obrestad just played her last Omaha hand. It appeared she'd raised preflop and picked up two callers, from the size of the pot and the 6k bet in front of her on a {2-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {4-Hearts} flop. The short stack to her immediate left was considering whether or not to call all-in, and another player lurked behind on the button.

Eventually Short-stack called, and Button moved in, prompting a threeway on-their-backs moment:

Obrestad: {K-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} {A-Spades} {6-Spades}
Short stack: {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} {7-Spades} {6-Clubs}
Button(covering them both): {A-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {3-Clubs} {7-Diamonds}

The button's flopped two pair became a house on the {7-Hearts} turn, and there were no miracles provided by the {10-Spades} river for either of the all-in players. That made that a double bust-out and brought another table break at the field reaching 90 players.
