Biggest Pot of the Day Makes Bloom Bust 15th, Durrrr Taste Felt, and Kiveilo New Chip Leader!

This is without a doubt the biggest pot played out so far in this tournament. And it involved a threeway all-in coup which started out with a raise from Tom Dwan, called by Aarno Kiveilo, and Jani Vilmunen on the button, before Tony Bloom reraised pot out of the big blind.

What was more surprising than that was the call from both Dwan and Kiveilo (and Vilmunen gave it some serious thought too)...

The flop which launched 700,000 chips was {8-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} . Tony Bloom had created a pot big enough to allow him to move in for 110k, and he did so. Dwan called quickly, and eyebrows were raised even higher when Kiveilo moved in over the top!

Dwan called, showing top set: {Q-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {9-Spades} {9-Hearts}
Bloom held {A-Hearts} {A-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {5-Spades}
Kiveilo held {K-Spades} {K-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} {8-Hearts}

The turn was the crucial {6-Diamonds} bringing Kiveilo the King-high flush which was much more help than his dominated set, and the pairless {10-Clubs} on the river cemented his huge victory.

Durrrr now has to spend an hour on dinner break waiting to shove in his remaining 10k, while Kiveilo can dine in style knowing he's the new chip leader with around 800k.

Griffin Gets Medieval on Lederer's Ass

Lederer versus Griffin again, this time Lederer raising to 12,000 in mid-position and Griffin calling behind.

They saw an {A-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} flop and Lederer squinted at it for a moment before betting out 16,000. Call.

They saw a {6-Hearts} turn next and Lederer paused without squinting before betting out 50,000. Over to Griffin, and it took us until Ross Boatman told him, "Maybe you should push your chips into the middle then," to realise that Griffin had announced all in. Another pause from Lederer, this time with squinting -- and eventually he folded.

Dwan Raise My Blind!

Jani Vilmunen and his formerly gigantic stack have taken another beating, this time courtesy of chip-lead contender Tom Dwan.

Vilmunen, who must have been voted Most Likely To Raise Preflop at high school or something, did his favourite thing and stuck in a preflop raise; Dwan in the big blind was the only caller.

They saw a {J-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} {7-Spades} flop and Dwan check-called the 18,000 continuation bet from Vilmunen. Both players opted to check the {6-Diamonds} turn, and they moved on to the river.

The river was the seemingly harmless {5-Spades}, but Dwan, after thinking about it for ages, now bet pot. Vilmunen folded, and the pot was his.

Aarno's AA Get Paid by Durrrr

I haven't seen much action from Aarno Kiveilo, but he's been holding his own in the chip counts all the way from yesterday, and I'm sure he's been playing pots, busting players and accumulating chips - I just haven't seen him do it. Until now.

I saw a pile of blue 5k chips heading his way out of Tom Dwan's stack and moved around to that table to check out the end-of-hand debris. It was a board of {9-Spades} {10-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} and Kiveilo was showing {A-?} {A-?} {J-?} {3-?}, part of which I'm pretty sure was the nut heart draw. It hadn't arrived, but he was still good and has evened up the stacks at that end of the table.

Kiveilo - 290,000
Dwan - 250,000

Lederer Takes Down Big Threeway Pot

Preflop, Howard Lederer raised to 12k, called by Ashman Griffin. Over to button Chris Bjorin, who calmly reraised a further 42k. He may not have been expecting both Lederer and Griffin to call him, but they did, and the flop came {8-Spades} {7-Spades} {10-Clubs} . Like payday, it was checks all round.

The turn was the {K-Diamonds} and Lederer, first to act, checked no more. He bet what looked a lot like 160k and would have put Bjorin all-in and seriously crippled Griffin if he called and lost... both players gave it some thought but in the end Lederer took it down there on the turn.

Kimber Doubles Through Vilmunen

Jani Vilmunen raised from the cutoff, and Jeff "Jaffacake" Kimber on the button and Tony Bloom in the small blind both called to a {9-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} {J-Clubs} flop, which all three checked.

The turn came down the {2-Diamonds} and Bloom checked again. Vilmunen now bet out 32,000 -- only for Kimber to raise pot (136,000), leaving himself just shrapnel behind. Bloom was delighted to get out of their way, Vilmunen made the reraise, Kimber made the all-in call, and they were on their backs.

Vilmunen: {K-Clubs} {K-Spades} {7-Spades} {5-Hearts} (does he ever not have a hand?) for trip kings
Kimber: {Q-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} {8-Spades} for the straight

River: {5-Spades}

Kimber doubles to 310,000, Vilmunen drops to 480,000.

Lederer Raising Mechanism: Activated

Howard Lederer has flicked the aggression switch, and was spotted raising two hands in a row.

The first time he raised from the cutoff and Ashton Griffin and Chris Bjorin in the blinds both called. They checked the {6-Hearts} {2-Clubs} {K-Spades} flop, though, and Lederer took it down with a 20,000 bet.

The next hand Lederer raised again and Ashton Griffin called again, this time in position on the button. The two proceeded to cagily check down the {Q-Spades} {5-Hearts} {9-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {J-Spades} board, though, and Lederer showed an actual hand comprising two kings and a couple less relevant cards with them, and Griffin just mucked.

16th Place Goes to Lloyd Rees (and £11,034)

In a dramatic hand which started as a sixway limpfest and ended with the possibility for two of the biggest stacks to clash, Lloyd Rees was the one caught in the middle and eventually busted. Many players saw a {J-Spades} {7-Hearts} {4-Hearts} flop, but it was Ville Haavisto who bet first - 16k. Over to Rees, who shipped in the whole of his stack (only 34,500) and then looked back at Haavisto.

However, his left hand side neighbour was none other than Jani Vilmunen, who tanked and then counted out the call. This clearly wasn't part of the plan for Haavisto, who threw his hand away.

Rees had flopped the nut flush draw with {A-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} {K-?} {5-?} but Vilmunen held {7-?} {7-?} {9-?} {5-?} which turned into a house with a rivered Jack.
