Eagle Has Landed

One player who has crept under the radar is 'Bald Eagle' Steve Zolotow. Seated in the far nook of the casino on the upper floor, Zolotow has quietly, but amassing a meaty stack which now stands at an impressive 105,000. Also sharing air space is Josh Arieh (just udner 70,000) and Andrew Feldman (just over 50,000).

And They're Back

Devilfish - Big Slick No Good
Devilfish - Big Slick No Good
Cards are in the air yet again, Daniel Negreanu is complaining that his leg may be broken and he's handling it wonderfully, the short stacks are reinvigorated by dinner, or suffering the sleepiness which can sometimes follow it...

Recently entering the undesired Short Stack category is Dave 'Devilfish' Ulliott. Just before dinner he played a pot against Kenna James which brought him an unwelcome river card. I caught the hand from when Devilfish was betting 2k on a {10-Clubs} {J-Hearts} {K-Spades} {2-Diamonds} board, called by an in-position James.

The river brought the {10-Spades} , a check from Devilfish, and a bet of 2,400 from James. Devilfish toyed with his chips before reluctantly calling. He was shown {A-Hearts} {10-Hearts} which had leaped ahead of his {A-?} {K-?} . A bit of a mutter ensued, in which I heard, "Good call.." and "Can't believe the f*** dealing," but it wasn't really aimed at anyone in particular.

Tran Derailed

Within just one or two hands, we have already experienced a notable casualty in bracelet winner JC Tran. He pushed all in for 2,500 with {A-Spades}{8-Clubs} on a {10-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{9-Clubs} board, but was looked up by {K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} which held on an {8-Hearts} river.

Battle of the Bracelets

It was a battle of the bracelet winners on the far table as Matt Hawrinenko and Praz Bansi became involved in a monster pot.

It was Hawrilenko who kicked off proceedings, raising to 1,000 from under the gun. The action folded around to Praz Bansi who made it 2,250 from the blind. Hawrilenko called... with

On the {6-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{5-Hearts} flop, Bansi bet 3,500 and Hawrilenko called. But compared to the turn, the {Q-Spades}, the flop was tamer than an episode of Countdown. Cue fireworks:

Bansi checked.
Hawrilenko bet 8,000.
Bansi raised to 23,700.
Hawrilenko pushed all in for 36,675 more.

After multiple shakes of the head, a brief inquisition and a count of his chips, Bansi made the reluctant fold, allowing Hawrilenko to collect a monster pot... albeit with a huge sigh of relief.

I'd pay a fiver to see those cards, and Bansi's.

Every Pot Counts

Jani Sointula raised to 800 from early position and received one caller in Sorel Mizzi. On the {2-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{7-Clubs} flop, Sointula continuation bet 1,200 and Mizzi made the call. The Finn then added 1,000 to his bet (2,200 for the non-mathematicians) on the {A-Clubs} turn, which was enough to pick up the pot.

Mizzi - 32,000
Sointula - 17,000
