One of the UK's finest, young Sam Trickett, seems to have coinflipped his way out of the tournament.
The evidence:
- Trickett's former seat chipless and unoccupied
- Yevgeniy Timoshenko raking in an enormous pot to put him up to 360,000
- gentleman on the rail said that Timoshenko had had pocket jacks and a young, slightly balding (sorry, Sam) gentleman in a hoodie had been holding and been knocked out after he failed to hit
A reprieve for Peter Gould, as he got his last 12,000 in with against Praz Bansi's rather better . A king on the flop was good enough, though, and Gould stays in on 28,000, still completely dwarfed by the assortment of chip-leading stacks at his table.
One man who is still in, but only just, is former England International Teddy Sheringham. He currently has 45,000 after contemplating pushing over the top of Jason Mercier's small blind raise, but ultimately folding.
On the next hand, Mercier made it a double, three-betting Christian Harder's open of 6,300 in the cut-off to 18,600. Harder made the fold, leaving Mercier with crica 150,000 in chips.
Nik Persaud is still fighting, though he seems a bit uncharacteristically quiet today.
Most recently he seems to have raised in early position and picked up a caller in big blind Jonathan Aguiar to see a flop. Aguiar checked, Persaud bet 10,000, Aguiar folded and Persaud showed him the . "Why are you so good?" asked Persaud for some reason. A dejected-looking Aguiar didn't reply.
Remember the guy on the feature table who had enlarged photos of his fives kids sitting on the table? Well, sadly, said player has had to remove his offspring from the felt after being informed by Jack Effel that he was in breach of the rules and that card protectors and other accessories could only be a certain size.
"Stealing his kids away from him," tutted Negreanu. "Hey, I don't want to be the bad guy," answered Effel with a smile.
Of course, it was all light-hearted, and the recipient duly olbiged.
With two limps before him, one of whom was Daniel Negreanu in the cut-off, Keith 'The Camel' Hawkins made it 9,000 from the button, but insta-folded when the initial limper pushed all in. The Camel didn't look happy, but he still has 235,000, whilst Daniel Negreanu has 170,000.
Hieu La shoved with , but Steve Zolotow woke up with pocket queens and made the call. The board brought a straight for Zolotow, nothing for La, and the unfortunate shover departed shortly thereafter.
