Courage Under Fire

Today has witnessed several outrageous bluffs from the likes of Brandu Cantu and Andy Black, but perhaps the latest is the most interesting.

Having raised it up preflop from early position, a young player in seat two received two callers in Ben Grundy and Chad Brown. On the {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}{J-Clubs} flop, the initial raiser continuation bet for 1,500, only for Grundy to minimum raise to 3,000. Brown cold-called behind, as did seat two.

After everyone dropped down a gear and checked the {6-Diamonds} turn, Brown decided to lead out on the {K-Hearts} river with a bet of 5,000. Seat 2, however, decided to make it 26,000 to play, urging Grundy to fold and putting the pressure back on Brown.

Although hesitant, Brown eventually folded, only to be shown {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}, much to the surprise of the rest of the table. "Did you have an eight?" "No, I didn't have an eight, but your hand was beat," answered Brown honestly.

Also on that table:

Erik Friberg -- 31,000
Todd Brunson -- 58,000
Ben Grundy -- 49,000
