Stout vs. Duplantier: Only One Can Survive

A preflop raising war resulted in Margaux Duplantier and Matt Stout getting all the chips in the middle. The two were essentially even in chips, though Duplantier was the one at risk.

Showdown
Duplantier: {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}
Stout: {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}

Both players were on their feet as the dealer ran out the board... {6-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{2-Clubs}. Duplantier looked extremely disappointed as the stacks were verified. "Good game," Stout said. "I'm sorry we both couldn't win."

Negreanu Pulling Away Against Cajelais

Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

On the button, Erik Cajelais raised to 1,200. Daniel Negreanu called from the big blind, and the dealer ran out the {K-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop. Negreanu checked, Cajelais fired 1,000, and Negreanu check-raised to 2,700. Cajelais called.

The turn was the {J-Diamonds}, and Negreanu opted to check. After Cajelais fired 4,000, Negreanu called to see the river.

The {4-Diamonds} completed the board, and Negreanu checked. Cajelais fired 6,000, but Negreanu made the call.

Cajelais turned over the {Q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for just queen high, but that was no good to Negreanu's {K-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and he won the pot.

Jacks Give Nitsche a Mountain of Chips

We happened by Table 22 just in time to see the dealer pushing a huge pot to Dominik Nitsche. We're not sure of the specifics, but we do know the young German had {J-Spades}{J-Hearts} laid out in front of him with a board reading {2-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{3-Hearts}{10-Spades}. Roy held {A-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}.

With that, Nitche doubled to 45,000 and holds a nearly 6-1 chip lead.

O'Brien and Newey Trading Blows

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

From the button, Dan O'Brien raised to 800. Paul Newey called from the big blind and, the flop came down {K-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{3-Clubs}. Newey checked, O'Brien bet 900, and Newey called.

The turn was the {7-Diamonds}, and both players checked. The river then completed the board with the {10-Clubs}. Newey fired 2,200, and O'Brien made the call.

Newey showed the {A-Clubs}{9-Spades}, but that was no good against O'Brien's {10-Spades}{9-Clubs} for two pair.

A couple hands later, O'Brien raised the button to 800, and Newey called from the big blind to see a flop of {J-Spades}{10-Hearts}{4-Clubs}. Newey check, O'Brien fired 1,100, and Newey made the call.

On the {5-Hearts} turn, both players checked. On the {9-Hearts} river, Newey fired 2,300. O'Brien folded, and Newey won the pot.
