Pantling Increases

Wesley Pantling raised to 2,800 from middle position and Francesco Fama called from the big blind before the flop came down {A-Spades}{5-Spades}{2-Diamonds}. Both players checked and the turn brought the {9-Spades}.

Fama checked to Pantling and he fired 2,500. Fama made the call and the {5-Hearts} fell on the river. Fama check-folded the river to a bet of 5,000 from Pantling, who flashed an ace and moved to 98,000 in chips.

Last Woman Standing

Claire Renaut
Claire Renaut

Claire Renaut was on the button with not that many chips left (about 21,000 by our count), and she got them all in preflop against small blind Nicky Katz. The lady's {A-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} was a reasonable thing to show down, but she'd run her ace into Katz's {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}.

The board ran {9-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {4-Spades}, and Renaut was unable to catch up to stay alive. Her elimination means that we have just one lovely lady left in the field, Sofia Lovgren.

Matt Hits The Mat

In two swift moves, JP Kelly has taken all of Matthew Jarvis' chips.

First, Kelly flat-called in the big blind against Jarvis' UTG raise and check-called a 3,600 bet on the {J-Hearts} {2-Spades} {7-Clubs} flop. He then check-called 6,200 on the {8-Diamonds} turn and 9,700 on the {8-Spades} river.

Jarvis showed {A-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} but Kelly had played his {K-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} extra slowly allowing the November Niner to value-cut himself.

"I thought about check-raising the flop," Kelly said later, "but I think he might have been a good enough player to get away from it."

This pot left Jarvis as a short stack and he called all-in from the big blind with {K-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} after Kelly set him in from the small with {Q-Clubs} {9-Diamonds}. The board came {A-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {9-Spades} {A-Spades} {4-Hearts} and that was enough to see Kelly up his stack to 84,000

Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda for Kessler

Allen Kessler
Allen Kessler

Earlier on, Allen Kessler folded pocket tens preflop when two other opponents were all in. Kessler would have had the best hand, and it would have held to triple him up to a very healthy stack at the time.

Just a moment ago, Kessler once again made a logical but ultimately losing fold. Wesley Pantling and Kristian Wiermyhr went to war preflop, and Kessler decided to duck out of the way with his pocket fours. Wiermyhr ended up all in with {A-Diamonds} {K-Spades} against Pantling's {2-Clubs} {2-Diamonds}, and Kessler was a bit peeved.

And he certainly didn't appreciate the flop. It came {8-Hearts} {9-Hearts} {4-Diamonds}, and the Chainsaw nearly fell backwards out of his chair. To make matters worse, the case {4-Spades} landed on the river, and Kessler could only announce the, "Jeez, four fours," that he would have made. Pantling's deuces held up though, and he's eliminated Wiermyhr.

Chainsaw Revs Back Up

Allen Kessler just ran pocket queens into kings to get knocked down and was forced to put half of his stack in for the big blind. Action folded to Kristian Wiermyhr on the button and he moved all in. Kessler looked at just the {K-Spades} and said, "I'm not folding," before sticking in the rest of his money. When he looked at his other card, it was the {A-Clubs} and put him in dominating shape to double up against the {K-Diamonds}{5-Spades} for Wiermyhr.

The board ran out {8-Spades}{7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and Kessler was able to get back to 8,000 in chips.

Chainsaw Cooled Down

We missed the action as it happened, but we noticed Allen Kessler suddenly with 2,900 chips left. He saw us peeking and told us that he ran his pocket queens into the pocket kings of Ray Chan. The money got in on a ten-high flop, and Kessler couldn't find anything useful on the turn or river. He's left with just those 2,900 chips.
