Deeb Out In 30th

Freddy Deeb: deep run
Freddy Deeb: deep run

Freddy Deeb had under 50k after check-folding a {Q-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} flop to Ronald Lee a little earlier (having called his preflop threebet which was aimed at Nicolas Levi and himself). It came down to a blind on blind confrontation with Roland de Wolfe to bust the gregarious, experienced player - de Wolfe raising in the small blind when it passed round, and going nowhere when Deeb seemed prepared to commit his stack. He showed {K-Clubs} {8-Hearts} to Deeb's big blind {9-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} and off they went to let the deck decide the outcome:

Flop: {10-Spades} {J-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} Now a King would prove no problem for Deeb...
Turn: {A-Diamonds} However the bottom end of the straight was no longer of interest as the broadway now belonged to de Wolfe, Deeb saying, "You got it," as he headed off with the consoling, "Unlucky, buddy," of de Wolfe ringing in his ears.

Bon Voyage, Benvenuti

Michael Benvenuti
Michael Benvenuti

First in from the button, Michael Benvenuti shipped it in for about 70,000 with {7-Clubs} {7-Spades}. Next door, Daniel Steinberg looked down at {A-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} and instantly called, and the cards were on their backs with Benvenuti at risk.

The flop was loads o' fun as it came out {10-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} to give Benvenuti the set of sevens and put Steinberg in a deep hole. The turn {K-Hearts} was the wrong shade of red to fill in his flush, but the {4-Diamonds} river was much more flush-friendly. It was no so kind to Benvenuti, eliminated before his dinner even had time to settle.

He's out in 28th place, and we're now redrawing our final three tables!

Lee's Ladies Find Some Action

Ronald Lee raised to 14,000 from early position, and Marc Inizan asked him how much he was playing. Lee had 350,000 chips behind his raise, and that was enough info for Inizan to make the call to go heads up to the flop.

It came {9-Spades} {J-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}, and the action went check-check. The turn {3-Clubs} drew a delayed continuation bet from Lee as he slid out 21,000 chips. Inizan didn't waste any time calling that bet, and he quickly called another 36,000 on the {8-Spades} river.

Lee tabled {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}, and it was good enough to take it down. Inizan nodded knowingly, placing his cards into the muck.

Hello, Newman

Anthony Newman
Anthony Newman

Here are a couple hands that Anthony Newman was just involved in.

On the first hand, action folded to Greg Mueller on the button and he raised to 13,500. Newman called from the big blind and the flop came down {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}. Newman check-folded to a bet of 7,000 from Mueller. Newman was left with just about 54,000 chips while Mueller moved to 330,000.

On the next hand, action folded to Viktor Blom on the button and he raised to 14,000. Newman reraised all in from the small blind for 53,500 and Blom called. Newman held the {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts} up against Blom's {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}.

The flop came down {Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{9-Spades} and Newman began to get out of his chair. He was fully standing and just about making his exit when the {A-Clubs} hit the turn followed by the {10-Clubs} on the river to give him a broadway straight. He sat back down and collected his new chips while Blom dropped to 270,000.
