A poker player for 10 years, Gary Avery lives and breathes the game. He even owns a poker store in Newcastle upon Tyne that specializes in chips, books and anything and everything else that has to do with poker. He also gives poker lessons to eager players and obviously put all that knowledge to use when he qualified for the World Series Main Event with Team PokerNews. “I’ve always liked cards and gambling,” explains the married father of one, “[I] like to put my wits together and out play everyone else”. Gary has previously finished in the money at two other MANSION Poker tournaments, walking away with $4600 and $2400 each time. Gary generally plays online tournaments and ring games for both Texas Holdem and Omaha Hi Lo. In classic British style Gary went down to the pub to celebrate his win and in classic Gary style, he played pub poker. He won on that night too. We hope to see Gary’s luck continue at this year’s World Series Main Event.
