Of the 218 players who arrived in the Brasilia Room for Day 2 of play, only nine remain. It took nearly 15 hours to get down to the final table and along the way we lost top pros like Barry Greenstein, Humberto Brenes, and Bill Gazes, online wunderkinds like Adam "Roothlus" Levy and Garrett "GBecks" Beckman, and dozens of amateurs making their runs at a bracelet.

We will return tomorrow at 2 p.m. for the conclusion of Event #39. WSOP bracelet winner Thom Werthmann leads the pack going into the final table, which includes the following players:

Paul Kerr Eliminated in 10th Place ($36,756)

Thom Werthmann raised to 85,000 from middle position. David Woo called from the button and Paul Kerr moved all in from the small blind for 277,000 total. Werthmann thought for a while, but eventually folded. Woo made the call with little delay. The players showed:

Kerr: {4-Diamonds}

Woo:

Neither man showed much emotion as the board ran out {A-Clubs}

. Kerr stood up and paused, perhaps contemplating, "what might have been." He eventually strolled over to the payout table to collect his tenth-place earnings, a handsome $36,756.

Thanhdat Tran Doubles Through David Woo

Action folded to Thanhdat Tran on the button and he raised to 105,000. David Woo reraised from the big blind to 250,000 and Tran pushed all in for 599,000. Woo called and the players showed:

Woo:

Woo got no help from the {8-Hearts}

board and Tran doubled to approximately 1,220,000. Woo was left with about 700,000 after the hand.

Matthew Wood Doubles Up

Matthew Wood moved all in for 226,000, David Woo flat-called and Curtis Early called from the small blind. The flop was {J-Diamonds}

. Early checked, Woo moved all in and Early folded. On their backs...

peeled off on the turn, pairing Wood's king and saving his tournament life. The river was the {4-Hearts}

and Wood doubled and then some to 678,000.

James Paras Doubles Through Curtis Early

James Paras moved all in from under the gun for 238,000. Action folded around to Curtis Early in the big blind who made the call. The players showed:

Paras:

Early had a slight edge in the hand, but that edge was quickly reversed when the flop came {K-Spades}

. Paras had flopped three of a kind and Early would need runner-runner to win the pot. Neither the {9-Clubs}

Action folded around to Thom Werthmann in the cutoff and he raised to 85,000. Michael Polcari pushed all in from the big blind for 636,000 and Werthmann made the call. The players showed:

. Polcari let out a sigh of relief and Werthmann shook his head in disbelief. The {6-Hearts}

on the turn did little to affect the hand. The {J-Diamonds}

on the river however gave Werthmann the winner. Polcari stood up, and headed for the rail. He was our 11th-place finisher and can add $36,756 to his tournament resume.

Thanhdat Tran moved all in for 234,000 from the cutoff and after thinking for several minutes, Paul Kerr made the call from the button.

Kerr:

The flop was {A-Hearts}

, pairing Kerr's ace and Tran's king, but Tran turned two pair when the {7-Spades}

landed on the turn. The river was the {8-Clubs}

and Tran doubled up to 537,000.

Habib Khanis Doubles Through David Woo

David Woo limped in from late position and action folded to Habib Khanis and he checked his big blind option.

The flop came down {A-Clubs}

. Khanis checked and Woo bet 60,000. Khanis pushed out a raise to 160,000 and Woo moved all in. Khanis quickly called and the players showed:

The turn was the {A-Spades}

and the river the {Q-Hearts}

. Khanis now works with a stack of just under 540,000 while Woo slips to near the 1,400,000 mark.
