Official chip counts for Day 2a play have now been released by WSOP officials. 466 of the 1,251 players who started the day were still in the running at night's end, led by Brian Schaedlich at 801,000 in chips. The official Day 2a top ten:

DCJ001: 2008-07-15; The nine finalists are paid 9th place prize money at this time ($900,670). That will leave approximately $24 million up for grabs in November. Since the interest in $24 million for a 117-day period is substantial, Harrahs Entertainment will place the prize money into an interest-bearing account.

DCJ001: 2008-07-15; The additional funds earned from the account will be added to the prize pool amongst the remaining nine players. Hence, each player is expected to collect a bit more in prize money than the figures which have previously been announced.
