The Final Table Is Set; That's All For Day Three

After almost seven levels of play to the minute, we've reached our final nine players, to set the final table of the PokerStars.net Asia Pacific Poker Tour Cebu.

The play differed in tempo across the day. We started out with the usual rush of bust-outs that occurs after the bubble has burst, but then things slowed dramatically. The snails pace continued until the final two hours of the day, where we once again had a string of eliminations to bring us up to the final table.

The sole local representative at the final table will be Mark Pagsuyuin. He'll enter the final table seventh in chips with 497,000.

The chipleader Sim Somyung has 1,442,000. His nearest rival is David Hilton with 995,000. Amazingly, two New Zealanders -- Kevin Clark and Phillip Willcocks, possibly the only New Zealanders in the field -- will line up amongst our final nine.

Oleg Poluzhnikov Eliminated in 10th Place ($8,200)

Preflop, Oleg Poluzhnikov open shoved for 172,000 chips. Action passed to Mark Pagsuyuin in the big blind, who thought about his options for a while before making the call.

A large crowd gathered around, cheering on their local hope.

The flop was . This brought a small cheer from the crowd.

The turn was the which saw a bigger cheer. But the loudest roar was reserved for the river which made a set of Pagsuyuin, and banished Poluzhnikov to the status of final table bubble boy.

Beng Hong (Jo) Ker Eliminated in 11th Place ($8,200)

Jo Ker has been eliminated in 12th place. Ker moved the last of his chips in with from the cutoff and David Hilton called from the big blind with .

The board ran out and Ker will leave with $8,200 for his efforts.

Pronk Ends the Affair

Nick Pronk acted decisively on an all-spade flop of . Pronk was in the small blind and raised to 60,000 after Mark "Last Filipino" Pagsuyuin limped into the pot. Pagsuyuin called, giving Pronk first action on the flop. Pronk moved in, a large over-bet, and took the pot down right there.

We're still looking or two eliminations to end the day. It now looks like we will go into Level 22 before we get there.

Hilton Runs Good... Again

After earlier getting his pocket Kings all in against pocket Aces and turning quad Kings, David Hilton has pulled off another great escape.

This time Hilton three-bet all in with and the original raiser Dong-Bin Han made the call with .

The flop came bringing salvation for Hilton. The turn and river both blanked, sending 710,000 chips to Hilton, and dropping Han to 685,000 in the process.

Nam Le Eliminated in 12th Place ($8,200)

Nam Le's renewed lease on tournament life didn't last very long. He was quickly all in again, this time with . Action passed to the last Filipino in the field, Mark Pagsuyuin, who attempted to take Le out with .

The partisan pack of Filipino onlookers started chanting for hearts and got two on the flop, . A third heart hit the turn, , to seal the hand for Pagsuyuin and eliminate Le from contention just short of the final table.

Pagsuyuin now has more than 500,000 chips.

River Saves Nam Le

Nam Le moved all with in for his final 240,000 and was called by Nick Pronk with .

The missed Le, as did the river. He would be staring down the barrel of elimination, until a hit the river to put a straight on board, giving both players a chop of the pot.

A Curious Hand

Phillip Willcocks opened his button for 50,000. Next to act was small blind Nick Pronk, who re-raised to 100,000. Willcocks called.

Pronk made a big show of playing with his chips like he was going to make a bet on the flop before checking to Willcocks. Willcocks then made a small stab at the 230,000-chip pot by betting 80,000. It was enough to get Pronk to fold.
