PKR Heads Up Grand Slam

Day 1 Completed

End Of Play!

We now have our 16 players for round 2.

The line-ups are:

Vicky Coren vs Juha Helppi
Ian Frazier vs Dave 'Devilfish' Ulliot
Alec Torelli vs Antonio Esfandiari
Tony G vs Sandra Naujoks
Lex Veldhuis vs Luke Schwartz
John Duthie vs David Steicke
Massimo Mele vs James Sudworth
[Removed:335] vs Vladmir Geshkenbein

Two battles standout for us as the 'Old School' players Ulliot and Frazier go at it, while nosebleed stakes cash players Veldhuis and Schwartz face each other.

Play will restart tomorrow from around 11am local time, so we'll see you then!

G Goes Nuts!

Well, not really. Tony G raised preflop to 275 and Jennifer Tilly called but folded to a flop bet on the {7-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {10-Hearts} board.

Tony G showed {J-Clubs} {9-Spades} for the flopped nuts.

Tran-Crash!

Tran-gic Ending
Tran-gic Ending
JC Tran ends up all-in for his last few chips.

Tran: {A-Spades} {2-Diamonds}
Steicke: {Q-Spades} {9-Hearts}

Board: {J-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {6-Spades} {3-Clubs} {9-Spades}

Handshakes all around as we're down to just one table, Jennifer Tilly against Tony G.

G-ed Up

On a flop of {6-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {10-Hearts} Jennifer Tilly's bet of 250 is raised to 1,000 by Tony G. Tilly calls, but then fires again a bet of 1,000 on the {8-Clubs} turn.

Tony G just calls this time, before they both check the {7-Hearts} river. Tilly shows {A-?} {6-?} but Tony G's {8-?} {7-?} is the winner.

Devilfish Beats Tabatabai

After crippling him in the previous hand, Devilfish has eliminated John Tabatabai. The latter was live but behind holding {10-Hearts} {4-Hearts} against Ulliot's {A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} and despite flopping a straight and flush draw, Tabatabai drew blanks on the turn and river and was knocked out.

Short Stacks Double!

Like In'N'Out Burger, mine's a Double-Double.

First JC Tran doubled, all-in on the turn of a {K-Hearts} {9-Spades} {5-Clubs} {10-Clubs} board only needing to fend off another queen against Steicke's {J-Spades} {6-Diamonds} which he managed easily on the {10-Spades} river.

Meanwhile on the feature table, the board of {J-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} saw Devilfish shove and Tabatabai called after some thought. Devilfish showed {10-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} and Tabatabai threw his {K-Hearts} {3-Clubs} into the muck, now crippled.

Channing Is Now Chanout

"Marvellous."
"Marvellous."
Strike another blow for the online qualifiers, Neil Channing was all-in with {A-Clubs} {5-Hearts} against [Removed:335]'s {K-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} but the board came {7-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds}. [Removed:336] rivers the nut-flush to make it through to round 2.
