Day 2 Completed
We've come to the end of Day 2 of Event #54, the last of the open-field $1,000 buy-in no-limit hold'em events. A total of 586 players returned today from a starting field of 3,844. The bustouts came quickly in the early going, with nearly 200 players going out within just a couple of hours. The money bubble burst quickly, and the bustouts continued at a rapid pace until late in the evening.
Among those going out with cashes today were Toto Leonidas, Thomas Fuller, Jena Delk, Thuyen Doan, Grayson Ramage, James Dempsey, Chris Klodnicki, Tony Dunst, and husband and wife Jorge and Isabel Carvalho. Later in the evening we saw George Lind, Al Krux, Mikael Johansseon, Eelke Arjaans, Van Nguyen, and Kara Scott also leave us having realized a profit in this one.
Meanwhile, a few players began to push out ahead of the field, including Matthew Schulte, Sean Prendiville, and our end-of-day chip leader David Peters.

Matthew Shepsky had a big stack earlier today, though had slipped back to the middle of the pack as the field began to shrink.
Just now he found himself in a hand in which an opponent raised, he reraised, his opponent shoved, and Shepsky called with the rest of his stack.
Shepsky was in decent shape with

, giving his opponent the straight and sending Shepsky home just before we wrap it up tonight.
Jesse Rockstein was given the honor of drawing the card to see how many more hands would be played here at the end of Level 18, and he drew a trey.
Takashi Ogura has added a few to his stack while knocking out a competitor here in the late stages of play. His opponent was all in with

on the river gave his opponent a set, but completed a club flush for Ogura, knocking out his opponent.

We heard about this one after the fact. A player opened with a raise to 21,000, then Dan Hart made a minimum reraise to 34,000. Micah Johnson then made it 120,000 to go from the button.
The original raiser folded -- pocket queens, he said afterwards -- and Hart, who had Johnson covered, made the call. Hart showed 
and Johnson .
The flop came 
-X-X, giving Hart a set. But the turn and river brought two more non-pairing spades, and Johnson's flush was best. Johnson moves to 340,000, while Hart slips to 240,000.
