Another Day 2 for Mr. Phil Ivey

Day 1 of Event 24: $5,000 Omaha Hi-Low Split 8-or-Better has wrapped up. A field of 256 players came out for this one and around 185 remained at the end of the night. Leading the way was Neal Friets with 53,500 in chips.

Some of the biggest names in the game were out in action for this one, including Daniel Negreanu. Unfortunately for him, he was eliminated and will have to wait until tomorrow's slate of events to get back into action. Others joining him on the rail were Eli Elezra, Perry Friedman and Nick Schulman.

Of those advancing, we've got Phil Ivey, Michael Chow, Jason Mercier and Jen Harman. They'll all be back in action tomorrow when play resumes.

The action will kick off tomorrow (Tuesday) at 2:00 PM in the Amazon Room of the Rio. Be sure to return right back here for all the Day 2 festivities brought to you on the PokerNews pages. Until then, goodnight from Las Vegas!

Mizrachi Beats Selbst with Straight

From the cutoff seat, Vanessa Selbst raised. Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi reraised from the small blind and Selbst made the call.

The flop was {Q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{5-Diamonds} and Mizrachi bet. Selbst made the call and saw the {K-Diamonds} turn. Both players checked fourth street and the river completed the board with the {4-Diamonds}. Mizrachi bet and Selbst called.

Mizrachi announced a straight and tabled the {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{3-Hearts}. He had a Broadway straight and Selbst mucked her hand.

Mercier Scoops One

After the player in the cutoff raised, Jason Mercier three-bet on the button. The blinds folded and the player in the cutoff four-bet. Mercier called and the flop came down {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}.

A bet from the cutoff led to a Mercier raise, a cutoff re-raise, and a Mercier four-bet. The cutoff slowed down with a call and proceeded to check-call bets on the {5-Clubs} turn and {2-Hearts} river.

Mercier tabled {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{3-Spades} for top set with a 7-5 low. His opponent could beat neither, giving the entire pot to Mercier.
