Mike Matusow Eliminated in 8th Place ($34,748)

Mike Matusow

We just said goodbye to Mike Matusow who got knocked out in seventh place. The action started with Matusow who raised all in for his final 15,000 chips from the under the gun +1 position. Meng La raised it up from the hijack and both Phil Ivey and Scotty Nguyen called from the blinds.

The flop came down {K-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and Ivey checked to Nguyen who put out a bet. Both La and Ivey called giving us three-way side pot action on the turn.

The turn was the {3-Spades} and now it was Ivey who lead out for 40,000. Nguyen put in a raise to 80,000 and Lad threw his hand into the muck. At this point Ivey put in the third bet making it 120,000 to go. Nguyen called.

The river was the {4-Spades} and Nguyen called another one of Ivey's bets. The agressor showed {A-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Hearts} for the nut low while Nguyen turned over {8-Spades}{7-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} for the high. Matusow turned over his {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{6-Spades} and that was no good to get hold of any part of the pot. That's it for Matusow and we are down to seven players.
