No Number Nine For Ivey?

Phil Ivey & Scotty Nguyen
Phil Ivey & Scotty Nguyen

Phil Ivey is getting dangerously short after he just lost two pots knocking him down to just 300,000 chips. On the first hand Joe Cassidy raised the button and Ivey three-bet from the small blind. Cassidy called and the flop came down {Q-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{2-Spades}. Ivey bet, Cassidy raised and Ivey called.

The turn was the {3-Spades} and Ivey lead out once more, Cassidy called. On the river the {A-Diamonds} hit and Cassidy called another one of Ivey's bets. Ivey turned over {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and lost to {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{8-Clubs}{8-Spades}. Cassidy had top set and took down the pot.

A couple of hands later Ivey raised on the button and Nguyen three-bet him from the small blind. The flop came down {10-Spades}{6-Clubs}{6-Hearts} after Ivey had called and he called once more. On the turn, the {5-Clubs}, Ivey called another bet only to fold when Nguyen put out another 80,000 on the {5-Hearts} river.

Ivey is in serious trouble.
