Event 42: $2,500 Omaha/Seven Card Stud Hi-Low 8-or-Better

Day 2 Completed

Lisandro Looking for Sixth Career Bracelet

Level 18
Chip leader, Jeff Lisandro
Chip leader, Jeff Lisandro

Day 2 of Event 42: $2,500 Omaha/Seven Card Stud Hi-Low 8-or-Better began with 175 of the original 393 entrants. Only 40 of them would make the money, and after ten hours of play, 22 remain.

Jeffrey Lisandro is the leader with 355,000 chips, and following him in the counts are Perry Friedman (263,000), Norman Chad (224,500), George Danzer (219,500), and Yuval Bronshtein (212,500).

Lisandro shot up the charts towards the end of the night, and won a massive pot during the last level of play. He scooped a Stud hand against Allen Bari and Daniel Harmetz, where Lisandro made a flush on seventh. He also made a seventy-six low, forcing Harmetz to muck despite his board reading {a-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{a-Clubs}{3-Hearts}.

“I don’t see bad hands!” Lisandro shouted at one point.

Lisandro is searching for his sixth career bracelet, and his fifth in a stud game.

There were a handful of notables who were unable to reach the money, including Alan Boston, Barry Greenstein, Vladimir Shchmelev, Julie Schneider, Amnon Filippi, Jim Geary, Daniel Negreanu, and the eventual bubble boy Christopher Gentile.

Play will resume at 2 p.m. local time tomorrow, and the plan is to play until there’s a winner. We’ll see you then, good night from Las Vegas!

End-of-Day Chip Counts

Lisandro Scoops Big Pot, Crosses 300K

Stud-8

Allen Bari{x-}{x-} / {3-Spades}{2-Spades}{j-Diamonds} (FOLDED)
Daniel Harmetz{x-}{x-} / {a-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{a-Clubs}{3-Hearts} / {x-}
Jeff Lisandro{x-}{x-} / {k-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} / {x-}

We caught the action on fourth street, where all three players checked. On fifth, Harmetz made a pair of aces, and bet. Only Lisandro called.

Harmetz bet again on sixth, and this time Lisandro raised. Harmetz called. Harmetz slowed down, check-calling a bet from Lisandro, and Lisnadro tabled {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for a king-high flush and a seventy-six low.

Harmetz mucked, and Lisandro scooped the pot.

Bari Doubles

Stud-8

Allen Bari{x-}{x-} / {3-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{a-Hearts}{5-Spades} / {x-}
Timothy Frazin{x-}{x-} / {q-Spades}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{7-Spades} / {x-}

Bari was all in on third street, and opened up {8-Spades}{5-Diamonds}. Frazin was ahead with {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} for split queens, but didn't improve through sixth street. Frazin turned over the {8-Clubs} on seventh, which also didn't improve his hand, and Bari, who made a pair of fives on sixth, had plenty of outs to scoop.

Bari's downcard was the {a-Spades} for aces up, and he indeed scooped the pot to double to 32,000.

Frazin Doubling

Omaha-8

When we arrived at Table 446, there was a board showing {4-Clubs}{k-Spades}{k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{4-Spades} and Timothy Frazin was all-in against Raymond Davis. This is how the showdown hands looked.

Frazin: {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{2-Hearts}
Davis: {a-Hearts}{8-Spades}{q-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}

Frazin's full house was strong enough to rake in the pot.
