Super High Roller Cash Game

Day 3 Completed

That's All

The Super High Roller Cash Game has wrapped up. Thanks for following along, and look for another Top Five Hands article to follow.

Six Blinds

Now, the game's getting truly whacky. The players have put on three straddles in addition to the three blinds, with Rick Salomon's $9,600 the last of the straddles. Bill Perkins raised to $25,000 on the button, and Salomon called. Both checked the {j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{j-Hearts} flop, and Salomon bet $45,000 on the {4-Clubs} turn. Perkins called and then snap-called another $110,000 on the {3-Spades} river.

Perkins won with {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}.

"You Called Me on the Flop With Jack-High?"

With the $4,800 straddle on, Jean-Robert Bellande raised to $15,000 from the button and got calls from Rick Salomon and Bill Perkins. The flop came {q-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{7-Spades}, and Bellande bet $20,000. Only Salomon continued, and both checked the {8-Spades}. Salomon bet $45,000 on the {6-Spades}, and Bellande quickly raised to $115,000.

"I call, I have a flush," Salomon declared.

"Flush is good," Bellande said.

Salomon showed {j-Spades}{10-Spades}.

"You called me on the flop with jack-high?" Bellande said incredulously.

Salomon said he figured he could go runner-runner since there was a spade and a queen out there.

"Welcome to the world of Rick Salomon, ladies and gentlemen," someone said.

Steven Doubles

Bill Perkins opened to $8,000 under the gun and got two calls before Brandon Steven made it $37,000 to go from the $2,400 straddle. Perkins four-bet to $83,000, driving out the squeezed players, and Steven called. He checked the {5-Clubs}{9-Spades}{j-Spades}, and Perkins put him all in for $214,000. After about a minute, Steven dropped in some chips.

Steven: {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Perkins: {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}

The players ran it twice, and neither {9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} nor {6-Spades}{a-Clubs} allowed the queens to catch up. Perkins is still ahead, but only slightly with $326,000, while Steven has shot up to $613,000.

"Bring Out the Sauce"

Players have called for a round of drinks, and the orders sound like about what you would expect from a $250,000 minimum buy-in cash game. The Johnnie Walker is on the way.

Esfandiari Gets Thin Value

Jean-Robert Bellande raised to $7,000 and got a call from John Morgan. Antonio Esfandiari squeezed it to $23,000, and only Morgan called, though he would be out of position with Esfandiari on the button.

"Best hand I've had since I was in high school," Morgan declared.

Both checked the {q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{7-Hearts} flop, and Morgan came out betting with $15,000 on the {2-Diamonds} turn. Esfandiari called, and Morgan checked the {4-Spades}. Esfandiari considered his options and then bet just $15,000. Morgan called, and Esfandiari showed down {j-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}. Morgan couldn't beat it.

The Minnesota-based business magnate now has about $445,000, meaning he's down over $150,000.

Small One for Bellande

Rick Salomon raised to $12,000 with the $2,400 straddle on, and Bill Perkins called from the mandatory straddle. Jean-Robert Bellande called from the big straddle, and everyone checked to the river as the board rolled out {7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. Perkins checked again, and Bellande bet $26,000. Salomon quickly folded, but Perkins called.

"I'm not bluffing any more," Bellande declared, showing {k-}{10-}. "I'm just going to have it."

He dragged the $90,000 pot.
