US Online Sunday Briefing: Winter Championships Begin

The Winter Online Championships kicked off on Sunday at WSOP.com in Nevada and New Jersey with its first three events. The festival features 47 events from Feb. 10-24 with over $1.5 million in guaranteed prize pools.

The highlight of the festival is the $525 Winter OC Main Event featuring a $200,000 guarantee on Feb. 24. The winner of this event will not only walk away with a huge chunk of change but also a Champion's Belt.

"Chuckies44" is the biggest winner thus far in the Winter Online Championships after shipping the Winter OC #2 - $125,000 NLH Sunday Special Edition on Sunday for $39,075.

The tournament attracted a massive field and almost doubled its $15,000 guarantee with 503 entrants, plus 981 rebuys and 287 add-ons generating a $49,588 prize pool. A total of 100 players cashed for a minimum of $104.

After nearly 7 1/2 hours of play, Ryan "sychosid" Hohner shipped the tournament for a five-figure haul of $11,901.
