Nadya Magnus Giving Away WSOP Main Event Seats to Two Female Poker Players

Nadya Magnus

Nadya Magnus is continuing her tradition of giving away coveted tournament seats to women in the poker community. This year, the 2021 GPI Female Player of the Year will award two $10,000 World Series of Poker Main Event seats to two lucky women.

Magnus teased the giveaway on X by writing that "the race for two WSOP Main Event seats that I will be giving away to two women will start early this year." Shortly after, Magnus announced that she will give away two Main Event seats to the two highest-ranking 2024 Female GPI ranked players preceding May 31.

The giveaway is only open for women with $150,000 or less in total live Hendon Mob earnings as of Dec. 31, 2023. Winners will be announced on June 1 and will have five days to contact Magnus on X to claim their seat.

History Of Putting Women Into Events

Magnus has a lengthy history of helping women win seats into major poker tournaments. In 2022, Magnus awarded a Main Event seat to a lucky woman. The following year, she awarded a 2024 Main Event seat to the woman who busted closest to the bubble in this year's world championship.

Also last year, Magnus and the Poker League of Nations (PLON) teamed up for giveaways that included a WPT Championship seat.

Magnus wasn't done with her 2023 generosity and wrapped up the year by giving away three NAPT Main Event seats. Later in the festival, Magnus served as a judge along with Joe Stapleton and James Hartigan to choose "loose cannons" for the PokerStars Big Game.

With the giveaway only being open to women with under $150,000 in earnings, the contest will not include many of the names that dominated that 2023 GPI Female leaderboard, including Loni Hui, Maria Ho, Victoria Livschitz, 2022 Female POY Cherish Andrews and four-time Female POY Kristen Foxen. In fact, Foxen would be disqualified from her latest big score alone as she took down the PokerGO Tour Kickoff finale for $165,000 earlier this month.
