Broom Runs into Trouble with the Ladies

Level 16 : 2,500/500, 500 ante

Iori Yogo and James Broom have just collided in a huge preflop clash as this ANZPT Perth Main Event continues to steamroll towards a final table.

The hand started with an open from a player, at which point Yogo flat-called from the button. Broom three-bet to 27,500 from the small blind, the opener got out of the way, and Yogo added another 52,500 to the bet with a four-bet. With the action back on Broom he went deep into the tank. With his cap pulled down low, Broom studied his opponent for a good three or four minutes before announcing himself all in. Yogo instantly called and Broom wasn't pleased.

Broom: {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}
Yogo: {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}

Broom would need an ace but the board fell {K-Spades}{4-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} to miss both players and leave the queens to double up. The total of Yogo's stack was 361,000, for a huge double up into the chip lead, as Broom was left with 125,000.

Woodworth Removed

Level 16 : 2,500/500, 500 ante

Day 1a chip leader Peter Woodworth has had a great tournament but his run has come to an end in 15th place at the hands of Dale Marsland.

Marsland opened from late position, Woodworth three-bet from the blinds, Marsland shoved, and Woodworth gave a cry of "Ok let's do this!" as he pushed his last chips into the middle.

Marsland: {k-Spades}{Q-Clubs}
Woodworth: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

The board arrived {2-Spades}{k-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} to pair up the king of Marsland to send Woodworth to the cashier. Marsland is up to 330,000 as 14 players remain.

Forward Out in 16th, Dejan New Leader

Level 16 : 2,500/500, 500 ante

Robert Forward has just had a bit of an implosion after a massive preflop clash against Dejan Divkovic has ended in disaster.

Forward tangled with Divkovic in a preflop raising war with Forward living up to his name with an aggressive shove holding {a-Hearts}{4-Hearts}, but Divkovic wasn't going anywhere with his {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}.

The board was spread {K-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{7-Hearts} to leave Forward to head to the cashier to collect $5,500 for 16th place. Meanwhile Divkovic is now the clear chip leader with a massive stack of 700,000 chips.

No Luck for Rickwaa

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Ricky Kroesen didn't catch the cards he needed at the right times today and now finds himself on the rail in 17th place.

Kroesen, who was left short after rumbling with Colin Wilford just a short while ago, was all in preflop against Wilford. Kroesen held {a-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}, while Wilford held {7-Clubs}{7-Spades}.

Despite managing to find some extra outs on the {j-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{10-Clubs} flop, the {4-Clubs} turn and the {5-Clubs} river meant that Kroesen was heading to the rail.

Peter Out in 18th

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Peter Brasile has been short stacked for much of the afternoon and has now been eliminated in 18th place. Brasile's final hand saw him all in holding {k-Spades}{6-Spades} from the big blind. Brasile's opponent, Michael Feizpour, held {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} and despite Brasile calling for some spades, the {a-Hearts}{4-Spades}{a-Spades}{3-Hearts}{j-Hearts} was of no help.

For his 18th-place finish, Brasile was sent home with $5,500.

Kroesen Misses a Royal

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Colin Wilford has had to deal with the constant three and four betting of Ricky Kroesen and James Broom to his left today, but Wilford has just fought back in the best way possible with a big double up at the expense of Kroesen.

Wilford opened to 10,500 from the button before Kroesen three-bet to 24,000 from the small blind. Wilford moved all in for around 100,000 and Kroesen made the call.

Wilford: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Kroesen: {A-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}

The flop was a fascinating {5-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} as Wilford spiked a set, but Kroesen picked up a Royal Flush draw for plenty of outs. The turn was the {9-Clubs} and river the {6-Hearts} to brick the board. Wilford doubles to 200,000 to leave Kroesen with just 78,000.
