At this point eliminations are surprising but not unexpected. We had another on Table 5 but by the time we got to the table it was unclear what happened. From the table talk it seemed there was an all-in raise on the river that Terry Fan called with a straight. His straight was good enough to take down the pot and elimiant his opponent, rocking Fan up to a tournament-leading 48,000 in chips.

Now that we're 90 minutes into the day, chips are really starting to fly. Table 4 -- Mike Kim and David Steicke's table -- has become a hotbed of action. There was another player all in on that table, after a river bet of 6,000 on a board of was check-raised to 11,200. The original bettor was the same player involved in the earlier Mike Kim hand in which Kim had shoved the turn. He folded in that hand, but this time he called and was shown the nut flush, , which was good.

Mongolian Meenelai Bold has doubled up through a beleaguered Ye Joon La.
Joon La had made a strong start to the day accumulating chips left and right, and was looking likely to have a whole lot more after the all the money went in with his against Bold's .
The flop of wasn't able to improve Bold, so he decided to call for the Queen by hitting the table and muttering.
It paid off the spiked the turn putting him out in front, but he would have to avoid a fifth club for a split. The took care of that, shipping the suckout to Bold.
Bold now has about 35,000 in chips. Joon La falls to around 8,000.

Wally Sombero has become one of the first big name's to be eliminated from the field.
Sombero raised preflop with and took an opponent with to the flop.
Unfortunately for Sombero the flop brought a and worse still, all the chips went in.
Sombero wasn't able to catch a re-draw and has been eliminated from the tournament. Sombero's appearance at the tournament was an achievement in itself. Just a few months ago the former high ranking police officer was shot eight times during an assassination attempt.
Many here in the room are extremely happy to see Sombero in good spirits and healty, back at the tables enjoying the game he loves.
