Leo Boxell
Leo Boxell
Moments ago, Leo Boxell was able to double up through American Thomas Slifka.

Slifka opened the pot with a raise to 75,000 from the cutoff and Wayne Carlson made the call on the button. Action then moved to Boxell who three-bet to 200,000. Slifka then reraised all in, Carlson folded and Boxell made the call for about 562,000 more, setting up a preflop all-in showdown:

Boxell: {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}
Slifka: {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}

The board filled out {8-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{3-Clubs}{10-Spades}{4-Hearts} giving Boxell top set, cementing his double up.

After the hand, Slifka dropped to 820,000 while Boxell improved to 1.35 million.

Benton Shows Queens

Aaron Benton and Ernst Hermans have played back at each other several times throughout the first level of play.

In a recent hand, Hermans opened with a raise to 100,000 from under-the-gun plus one and action folded around the table to Benton in the big blind who three-bet to 300,000. Hermans laid down his hand, but not without Benton stirring things up a little:

"Last hand I'm going to show ({Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}). I'm not going to make the mistake of not three-betting you again."

Carlson and Hermans All In Preflop

Leo Boxell raised from under the gun to 60,000, a min-raise. Ernst hermans reraised from the hijack seat to 170,000. Wayne Carlson was in the small blind and made it 400,000 to go. Boxell ducked out of the way and then Hermans moved all in, putting Carlson to the test. It would be young versus old as Carlson made the call.

Despite having different ages, the two revealed the same hand -- {A-?} {K-?}.

After an uneventful board ran out, the two chopped up the pot.

Benton Can't Get River Value from Two Pair

Aaron Benton
Aaron Benton
Aaron Benton was in the small blind and Tom Grigg in the big blind. Action folded around to Benton and he completed. Grigg checked his option and then Benton checked dark before the flop came down.

The flop was placed {J-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {2-Hearts} on the felt. With Benton checking dark, action fell on Grigg. He checked behind.

The turn was the {K-Hearts} and Benton led for 35,000, just one-sixth more than the minimum. Grigg made the call.

The river card produced the {5-Hearts} and now there was three hearts on board. Benton fired 50,000 and Grigg mucked his hand. Benton showed {K-Spades} {5-Diamonds} for runner-runner two pair.

His cheering section, which is located a few feet to the right of media row on the balcony, erupted with cheers when they saw Benton scoop the pot.

Grigg Picks Up Kings Two Hands in a Row

Tom Grigg was just dealt pocket kings two hands in a row and while he won one and lost the other, he managed to improve to 1.25 million in chips in the process.

In the first hand, Grigg opened with a raise to 75,000 from the cutoff and was called by Ernst Hermans from the button. The flop came down {A-Clubs}{J-Spades}{Q-Spades} and Grigg fired a continuation bet of 100,000 that was called by Hermans. Both players then checked down the turn and the river ({7-Spades}, {7-Hearts}) and at the showdown, Hermans revealed {A-Spades}{9-Hearts} for aces up.

One hand later, Grigg picked up kings again and opened for the same amount -- 75,000. This time, Wayne Carlson called from the big blind and the two saw the flop come {A-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{10-Spades}. A pair of checks on the flop sent the action to the turn, {8-Diamonds}, where Carlson fired a 100,000 bet. Grigg made the call. 5th Street delivered the {10-Hearts} and Carlson fired another 100,000 that was also called by Grigg.

At the showdown, Grigg was pleased to find his kings were good against Carlson's {J-Hearts}{8-Clubs} and he raked in the pot to move to 1.25 million in chips.
