Day 1b Started
Welcome back to PokerNews' coverage of the 2011 PokerStars.net APPT Macau Main Event. Yesterday's Day 1a field saw 269 players come out to action. At the end of the day, 155 of them advanced to Day 2. It was Shih Chieh Su leading the way at the end of the day with 171,800 in chips.
Yesterday's big story was Phil Ivey making his return to the felt after a long, several-month hiatus from live tournament poker. He went on to finish with 51,200 in chips and looks to have that fire back in his eyes.
Although there will be no Ivey today, we've still got plenty of big-name pros signed up to play. Two-time World Series of Poker Main Event champion and ten-time WSOP gold bracelet winner Johnny Chan is here along Team PokerStars' Bryan Huang, Celina Lin, Randy Lew, Nacho Barbero and Vivian Im. The defending champion, Victorino Torres, is also slated to play along with 2008 champion Eddy Sabat.
Sabat won the largest-ever APPT Macau Main Event with 538 runners in the field. This year is set to eclipse that number to make for a record-setting field.
Play is slated to kick off noon local time here at PokerStars Macau. Be sure to stay tuned for all the live coverage straight from the floor, it's going to be another great day on the felt.
If you're not lucky enough to be here yourself, then here's a quick tour around town to enjoy before the action commences here in the Grand Lisboa Hotel & Casino.

Due to the size of the field here on Day 1b, there is a decent list of alternates waiting to get in the event. The tournament staff just made the announcement that many of these alternates will be entering the tournament with a different chip in their stack than those already in play -- the red T25,000 chip.
This is one table to fear as Team PokerStars Pro's Vivian Im and Nacho Barbero are seated with the likes of 2011 Aussie Millions 3rd-place finisher Jeff Rossiter, 2010 Macau Poker Cup 2nd-place finisher Kelly Flynn, recent WSOP bracelet winner Joe Ebanks and prominent Japanese player, Yasuhiro Waki.

Ben Gilholme opened the action to 300 from under the gun and all the players at his table got out of the way before Phil Willcocks made the call in late position.
Flop:
Gilholme again led, this time for 400 and Willcocks again made the call as the was dealt on the turn. Both players opted to check as the completed the board.
Gilholme thought for a few moments before deciding to softly tap the felt, at which point Willcocks quickly checked behind. Gilhome tabled his and they would hit the muck when Willcocks turned over his
