Time for a Dinner Break

Level 4 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Players are now on a 40-minute dinner break. When they return, the players will play three more levels before bagging and tagging for the night. Also, registration and re-entry is now closed, which means we'll have official numbers for you sometime after the break.

Nine Rebuys in the High Roller

Level 5 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

The numbers are starting to come in, though the official prize pool has yet to be released. There is also talk of two players having late registered. With that said, right now the tournament clock says 34 players have entered the tournament, and of those nine have rebought.

Remember, in this tournament the players didn't have to bust to exercise their rebuy option. In those instances it essentially served as an add-on. Here's a look at the players who did rebuy:

  • Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier
  • Yan Tsang
  • James McCarty
  • Yu Liang
  • Jeff Rossiter
  • Predrag Lekovic
  • Chunlei Zhou
  • Mikael Thuritz
  • Paul Newey

Vamplew Turns a Flush

Level 5 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

A short-stacked David Vamplew got his last 57,000 all in preflop holding the {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} and he was racing against the {10-Spades}{10-Clubs} of Australian Joel Feldman. The {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} flop made things interesting as it gave Feldman top set and Vamplew a flush draw.

The {4-Diamonds} turn actually gave Vamplew the flush, but Feldman could still win if the board paired on the river. Fortunately for Vamplew, that didn't happen as the harmless {7-Hearts} rolled off.

Soika Culled by Pocket Kings

Level 5 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

We missed the preflop action, but we do know that Russia's Ihar Soika was all in for his last 152,500 holding the {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} and behind the {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} of Kyle Cheong. The {3-Spades}{8-Clubs}{3-Hearts} flop was no help to Soika, but the {J-Diamonds} was as it paired his jack. However, he needed even more help in the form of either a jack or an ace on the river to stay alive. The dealer burned, put out the {2-Spades}, and Soika hit the rail.
