Senh Ung opened for 165,000 from the button and was met by a three-bet to 420,000 by Aidan Tam in the big blind. Not to be outdone, Ung four-bet to 850,000 and took down the pot.
In the very next hand, Predrag Lekovic raised to 160,000 from the button, Tam and Ung called from the blinds, and all three players saw a flop of . Two checks saw Lekovic bet 225,000, Tam folded, and Ung woke up with a check-raise to 500,000. Pekovic made the call and then both players checked the turn as well as the river. Ung tabled the for a pair of queens, and it was good as Lekovic sent his cards to the muck.
Earlier this month in the European Poker Tour London Main Event, Jeff Rossiter eliminated Senh Ung in tenth place. Rossiter then went on to take fifth. Well, Ung just had the opportunity to return the favor.
It happened when Ung raised the button to 160,000 and Rossiter shipped for 1.5 million from the small blind. The big folded and Ung snap-called.
Ung:
Rossiter:
Rossiter was dominated and he received no reprieve as the board ran out . "Payback for London," Ung's friend Rob Schiffbauer said from the rail after Rossiter had vacated the area in fourth place.
Aidan Tam opened for 160,000 only to have Senh Ung three-bet to 340,000 from the button. The blinds both folded, Tam called, and two players saw a flop of . Tam checked and then tossed away his hand when Ung came out with a bet of 430,000.
Action folded to defending champ Jonathan Karamalikis in the small blind and he moved all in, which elicited a call from Aidan Tam in the big.
Tam:
Karamalikis:
It was a flip, but Tam was the one that needed to improve to win. Unfortunately for Karamalikis, that's just what happened after the board ran out to give Tam a winning straight. The defending champ is down, but his back-to-back cashes in the ACOP High Roller is impressive.
Last year Jonathan Karamalikis won this very event for HK$3,707,000 ($478,292 USD) while fellow Aussie Jeff Rossiter finished runner-up for HK$2,224,000 ($286,949 USD). Amazingly both have made the money this year. Obviously Karamalikis can't improve, but Rossiter can.
Just after the clock rolled over into Level 13 (40,000/80,000/10,000), a short-stacked Vladimir Troyanovskiy open-shipped the button for roughly 700,000. Predrag Lekovic then moved all in over the top from the small blind, which inspired the big to fold.
Lekovic tabled the , and Troyanovskiy needed to get lucky with his to stay alive. Unfortunately for the Russian, the flop was gin for Lekovic, who flopped a straight with a flush redraw. Troyanovskiy needed running cards to stay alive, but that didn't happen as both the turn and river blanked.
With the elimination of Troyanovskiy, the remaining five players are in the money and will relocate to the feature table area.
Senh Ung opened for 125,000 from the hijack only to have Vladimir Troyanovskiy three-bet to 305,000 from the button. The blinds folded, Ung called, and it was heads-up action to the flop. Ung checked to Troyanovskiy, who used two hands to slide out a bet of 200,000.
Ung then woke up with a check-raise to 550,000 and Troyanovskiy, who had about 670,000 behind, hit the tank. The Russian thought for several minutes before he folded the face up.
