Karamalikis Loses a Few

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

Jonathan Karamalikis opened to 525 from middle position and was called by Mishel Anunu in the cut off. The player on the button then raised it up to 1,650 which forced both blinds to fold. With the decision back on Karamalikis, he opted to raise it once more to 4,100. Anunu folded and the player on the button called.

The flop came down {10-Hearts}{2-Spades}{2-Diamonds} before Karamalikis threw out a continuation bet of 4,000 which was called. Both players then cautiously checked it down as the board ran out the {3-Hearts} and {k-Clubs}.

Karamalikis tabled his {a-Diamonds}{10-Spades} for two pair but it was no good against his opponents {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}.

Glazier Falls, Then Doubles

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

After late registering into the APPT Melbourne Main Event, the newly-patched 888poker star Jackie Glazier had some early troubles, but a recent double up has her back in good shape.

Picking up the action on a flop of {3-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{2-Hearts}, there was already over 5,000 in the pot when action checked to a player in the cutoff who bet 3,000. Glazier deliberated before moving all in for her last 11,625, to force a fold from a third player. The cutoff thought for several minutes before splashing out a call with {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} but he was pipped by Glazier's {J-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}.

The {5-Diamonds} turn and {7-Diamonds} river saw Glazier double back to her start stack of around 30,000 chips.

Gelberg Makes a Great Call

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

The hand started with Sherrie Gelberg opening to 525 from late position and finding one caller from the blinds. The flop came down {2-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{3-Hearts} and Gelberg threw out a continuation bet of 700 after her opponent checked. The bet was called before both players opted to check when the {a-Spades} fell on the turn.

With the river producing the {6-Clubs}, the player in the small blind decided to bet out 2,000. Gelberg thought for just a moment before making the call. Her opponent showed his {q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for a bluff before she casually turned over her {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} to take down the pot.

Great Flop for McLean

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

We arrived to find 2010 APPT Sydney runner-up Ben McLean moving all in on the river of a {j-Spades}{10-Spades}{j-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{6-Hearts} board. There was already well over 10,000 in the pot and McLean was shoving for around 16,000.

McLean’s lone opponent was David Borg and after tanking for a couple of minutes, Borg opted to make the call.

When McLean tabled {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} for a flopped full house, it was good enough to trump Borg’s {k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}.

Enough for Fadsy

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

Michael Fadersen and one opponent committed 600 on the {j-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{8-Hearts} flop and the dealer promptly flipped over a {5-Diamonds} on the turn. This time Fadersen’s opponent led for 2,000 and Fadersen, from the button, made the call.

The river was a {9-Diamonds} and with two checks, the cards were turned over. At showdown, Fadersen tabled {a-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} which was strong enough to take the pot off the player who held {10-Hearts}{5-Hearts}.
