Zalac Falling

Level 11 : 900/1,800, 200 ante

The chip leader from the start of the day, Ivan Zalac, is on a downward spiral as we just witnessed him lose another pot.

The hand started with Zalac opening to 3,600 before Aditya ‘Bitti’ Agarwal raised it to 8,200. Zalac made the call as both players saw the flop come {10-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. Both were happy to check, as the {2-Hearts} fell on the turn, before Zalac led out 6,500 in chips. Agarwal just made the call as the {5-Clubs} completed the board.

Zalac quickly reached for some chips, and threw in 8,000 which had Agarwal thinking. He eventually made the call and tabled his {A-Hearts}{A-Spades} after Zalac had showed his {4-Clubs}{4-Spades}.

As Agarwal moves up to 100,000, Zalac has fallen to 50,000 in chips.

Medina Busts Goindi

Level 10 : 700/1,400, 200 ante

We didn't catch the exact action, but we do know that Abhishek Goindi got the rest of his 40,000 stack in preflop holding {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}. Unfortunately for him, he was up against the {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades} of Jose Medina. The board ran down all low cards, coming {3-Clubs}{2-Spades}{7-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{8-Clubs}, and Goindi was unable to hit his two outer.

After that hand, Medina's stack rocketed up to 135,000.

Monster Pot

Level 10 : 700/1,400, 200 ante

The action started with Lingling Teng opening to 3,000 from under the gun, as Ming Sheng and Chane Kampanatsanyakorn made the call from the hijack and button respectively. Shingo Cho was in the small blind, and bumped it up to 13,000 resulting in quick folds from Teng and Sheng. Kampanatsanyakorn made the call, as both players saw the flop come {5-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{A-Spades}.

Cho threw out a continuation bet of 17,500 and was quicklu met with a raise to 35,000 in chips. He sat back for a moment, contemplating his next move, before announcing all in for an additional 75,300. Kampanatsanyakorn folded soon after as Cho raked in a massive pot.

Cho now sits on 145,000 as Kampanatsanyakorn drops down to 115,000 in chips.

Final Five Tables

Level 10 : 700/1,400, 200 ante

The action has been fast and furious so far today, as we have lost almost half of the field that we started with. 40 players remain, but only half of them will walk away with a padded wallet. We don't think we will reach the money today, but with the rate the eliminations are going, we wouldn't rule it out.

Zhang Over Bets the River

Level 10 : 700/1,400, 200 ante

We caught up with the action between Kevin Zhang and two other opponents on the flop, which had come down {j-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}. There was about 6,500 in the middle, and Zhang bet 3,000 after his first opponent checked. The player on the button made it 8,500 to go, and the first opponent folded after 20 seconds or so of thought. Zhang made the call, and both players checked when the {8-Spades} hit the turn.

The river brought the {10-Hearts}, and Zhang quickly moved all in. Zhang had his opponent well covered, but the bet was still effectievly 35,000, much bigger then the size of the pot. His opponent tanked for a couple of minutes before kicking his hand in, and Zhang took the pot, upping his stack to 110,000 in the process.

Ruling Favours Medina

Level 10 : 700/1,400, 200 ante

Tournament Director Danny McDonagh was just called over to Table 10 to make a ruling on an incident that occurred in a recent hand.

It all started with Abhishek Goindi opening to 2,800 from the cut off before Jose Medina raised to 7,200 from the big blind. Goindi then re-raised to 27,800 and was met with an instant all from Medina for 46,800 in chips.
Goindi dropped his cards towards his chips in disgust, which looked like a muck. The dealer not noticing, announced how much the all in was and Goindi quickly retrieved his cards, not realizing that the all in bet wasn't to much more to call. A few players, as well as Medina, questioned whether or not he was allowed to take his cards back, after it looked like he had folded.

McDonagh was called over, and after hearing what the dealer, players, and another tournament director had to say, ruled that the hand was still live, resulting in Goindi making the call.

Goindi: {7-Hearts}{9-Spades}
Medina: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

The ruling favoured Medina, who dodged a straight draw on a board reading {5-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} to see him move up to 95,000. Goindi drops down to 43,000 in chips.
