Zalac Scores A Knockout

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

We didn't see how the action went down, but we do know that a short stacked player got the rest of his money in preflop holding {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}, and that the lone caller was Ivan Zalac, who rolled over {a-Clubs}{6-Spades}. The board ran down all low cards, {5-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{7-Clubs}, and Zalac's ace kicker was good enough to take down the hand.

Despite winning that small pot, Zalac has been stuck in neutral for most of the day. He started the day with 109,000, and is now sitting on just under that, with 103,000.

Kampanatsanyakorn Climbing

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

The table folded around to Sotirios Koutopas in the cut-off who opened for 2,000. John Gallagher then opted to move all in from the button for 17,100 in chips as the small blind folded. Chane Kampanatsanyakorn was in the big blind and snap-called as Koutopas got out of the way.

Kampanatsanyakorn: {J-Spades}{J-Clubs}
Gallagher: {A-Hearts}{3-Hearts}

Board: {6-Spades}{8-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

Gallagher was unable to improve his hand, as he was sent to the rail. Kampanatsanyakorn now has 135,000 in chips.

Goindi Finds Another Double

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Earlier in the day, we reported that Abhishek Goindi had secured a double up to 40,000, but his stack had slowly whittled down to 25,000 before he got it in preflop. This time, he held {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}, and was up against the {a-}{q-} of his opponent. The board ran pure for Goindi, coming down {8-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}, and Goindi secured the double to up his stack to 53,000.

Liu Cripples Collopy

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

We caught up with the action on the turn, with the board reading {4-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{k-Clubs}. Cheng Liu had fired out a bet of 4,600, and recent bracelet winner Jim Collopy made the call. The river brought the {j-Spades}, and Liu assembled a hefty bet of 13,000, and slid it towards the dealer. Collopy only took a few moments before calling, but mucked his hand when he saw Liu tabled {10-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for a flush.

After that hand Liu jumps up to one of our chip leaders with 85,000, while Collopy plummets to 19,000.

Lim Gets There

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

The action folded around to Edward Lim in the cut-off, who moved all in for his remaining 12,400 in chips. The decision was on Chunsan Fan in the small blind, who asked for a count. He eventually made the call and both players tabled their cards.

Lim: {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}
Fan: {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}

Lim was in great shape when the flop came down {6-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{9-Spades}. The {A-Spades} dropped on the turn, quickly having him trail the over pair of Fan. However, he didn’t flinch, and was rewarded when the {7-Clubs} came on the river, to complete a gut-shot straight draw.

Lim was all smiles as he moved up to 27,500, as Fan could only shake his head in disappointment, dropping down to 40,000 in chips.

Razavi Sends Huang Packing

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

There will not be a Team PokerStars pro winning this event this year, as Bryan Huang was just eliminated. Huang was short stacked for much of the day, and ending up opening shoving in middle position with {8-Clubs}{5-Clubs}. Unfortunately for him, Sam Razavi woke up with {a-Spades}{k-Clubs} in the small blind, and he made the call. The board ran down {2-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}, and Huang was drawing dead on the turn.

After that hand, Razavi is now up to 47,000.
