Lee Nelson Eliminated

Team PokerStars player Lee "Final Table" Nelson was just eliminated from the tournament by Mischa Peters; here's how the hand went down:

Nelson made it 600 to go from under the gun and was called by Peters in the big blind. Peters checked in the dark to Nelson and when the flop came {Q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}, Nelson moved all in for his last 2,900; Peters made the call.

Nelson: {Q-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Peters: {A-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}

Nelson increased his grip on the hand when the turn brought him a third queen, but the {4-Diamonds} on the river gave Peters an ace-high flush, eliminating Nelson from the tournament.

Peters stacked up 17,000 in chips after the hand.

Jani Maekinen Doubles Up

Jani Maekinen just doubled up in dramatic fashion, getting all of his money in holding pocket aces on a {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{A-Diamonds} board, slightly behind against an opponent who called with {10-Spades}{J-Diamonds} or, the nuts.

With one card to come, Maekinen would need to hit one of his ten outs to stay alive, and sure enough, the {2-Diamonds} feel on the river giving him a pot-clinching full house. Afterwards, Maekinen stacked up just under 30,000 in chips.

Saab Doubles Up

David Saab just doubled his net worth after his pocket aces held up against an opponent's pocket kings in a pre-flop all in confrontation. The board filled out {6-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{J-Spades}{9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and Saab scooped the pot with two pair, aces and sixes, upping his chip count to 21,000.

Berec = Busto.

Jozef Berec was just eliminated from the tournament after shoving his last 500 into the middle with the board reading {5-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{A-Spades}. His opponent made the call and tabled {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for top two pair; Berec produced pocket kings.

Failing to catch one of the two remaining kings in the deck on either the turn or river, Berec found himself one of the early casualties of Day 1 play.

Rousso Reeling

PokerStars sponsored pro Vanessa Rousso is off to a rough start today, and is currently down to just 3,000 in chips. We caught up to one hand she played in which the board read Q-9-Q-6-7. We missed the action leading up to the river, but Vanessa called her opponent's 2,500 bet on the river holding pocket tens; her opponent tabled pocket sixes for a full house.

Juanda Active Early

John Juanda just picked up a small pot against Aussie pro Jozef Berec, in one of the first hands we've seen Juanda play today. Pre-flop, Berec made it 200 to go from the button and Juanda was the lone caller in the small blind.

The flop came {8-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{A-Diamonds} and Juanda took control of the hand, leading out with a 450 bet; Berec called. The turn brought the {6-Hearts} and Juanda fired one more bullet, this time worth 1,250, which prompted Berec to lay down his hand.
